Owenbrook Golf Course

Well, on this day Owenbrook would normally be opening its doors to welcome back old friends & new acquaintances but instead we have to say goodbye. Thank you everyone for the great times. In Bruce's own words. " Owenbrook is a magical place to be-holed." Take care everyone and " Hit the green!"

Taking advantage of the nice weather, Greg & I snuck in 18 holes. Hard to believe Owenbrook is coming to an end.

It is with very heavy heart that I have to share this sad news. We (Renee, Greg & Doug) will not be returning to Owenbrook for the 2021 season. After 40 years of being arguably the best mom & pop golf course in the area we will be closing the doors permanently. To all those familiar with Bruce McNichol know what this course meant to him. It was his little piece of paradise right here on earth. For almost 40 years he gave his blood, sweat and tears to the grounds that we have all enjoyed. Greg was right there along side Bruce for 20 of those years. Renee and I were a mere drop in the bucket at 3 years. Owenbrook is a magical place just like Bruce said it was. Generation after generation have learned to play golf at Owenbrook. The stories that echo across the fairways and at the clubhouse are endless. My story even begins at Owenbrook. Never played a game of golf before taking over running Owenbrook. My question to everyone that has had the privilege of playing at Owenbrook or knowing Bruce is, Would you please share your stories on this page and I will rename the page in memory of...... Or should I retire the page completely? I Know I speak for Greg, Renee, Myself and the rest of the McNichol family when I say Thank you to everyone for the memories. Best wishes and "Hit the green!"

Well 2020 was definitely different for us and everyone the visited the course this season. We would like to thank the women league for hanging in there and figuring out a way to still golf and socialize while keeping their distance. To all our regulars, Y'all ROCK!!! Also thank you to all the new faces ( or at least partial faces,lol) that came this year. We hope to see you all next year and hopefully things will be more normal. Most of you probably don't know but this was a special year for Owenbrook. It was our 40th anniversary being open. Our plan was to have a special announcement at our summers end BBQ & Bruce McNichol tournament but Covid had other plans. So hopefully next season we can celebrate. Again thank you all and have a wonderful & healthy winter.

This video was put together by one of Bruces nurses, Belle as he called her. Belle, Krista, and myself were referred to as the "A" team. I sure do miss the fella, but I'm lucky enough to work in his garden of Eden known as Owenbrook golf course where he still resides in spirit.
