We are three weeks into our second 2024 six-week dance skate progressives, offered in Armstrong (Monday nights) and Salmon Arm (Friday nights). Week 3 we reviewed weight transfer and edges and recapped the moves from Week 1 and 2. Then we focused on the dynamics of spinning on roller skates. We reviewed heel/toe, toe/toe, moving spins, c-cuts (to one foot spins) and corkscrew spins. We worked a routine called ‘Sock it to Ya’ that incorporated the moves we have learned this far. I’m so impressed with how dedicated each and every skater is to their own development, which happens at each persons pace. These classes go by too quickly, I can’t seem to get all the moves and techniques I want to convey out in the time we have…. Week 5 - Our focus was on “Balance” … fitting that it was spring equinox 👀🌞🌝.

We worked on one foot dance skating drills (both static and dynamic), slow walking, choreography and partner support for dynamic one foot moves.

Everyone was so fantastic 🙏. We all stepped forward on our dance skate journey with a little more poise and balance.

Next week is our final week before the new six week session …. The theme for next Monday is 🌈🦄!!

We will review all of what we have learned and focus on show moves, floor work and your own freestyle signature moves!
