So many reasons to sign up for CanSkate including our wonderful coaching team. Please enjoy learning more about one of the newest members to our team - Coach Lauren.
My coaching journey began at the age of 11, when I started volunteering as a Program Assistant (PA) with the AFSC CanSkate sessions. I completed my CanSkate Coach course in 2012 and my Level 1 coaching course in 2013, completing my mentoring hours through both the AFSC and the Toronto Cricket Club.
As a skater, I hold Quadruple Gold Test status and competed in the competitive stream through the Senior level. During university, I had the opportunity to compete as a member of the Guelph Gryphons varsity skating team, participating in synchro, pairs fours, and free program.
While completing my bachelor’s degree, I continued to share my passion for skating by volunteering with the Gryphons Learn to Skate program and helping with AFSC programs whenever I was home during school breaks.
After a few years away, I was excited to return to the AFSC as a coach for the 2024/2025 season, and I hope to continue coaching and contributing to the club community for many years to come.
I have found so much joy in my personal skating through the AFSC AdultSkate program where I enjoy working on my Diamond Dances, jumps and spins.
I am currently working on my Masters Degree, but when I find free time I can be found in the barn, in the garden, baking, or watching a show with my fiancé and our cats.
I’m excited to continue sharing my passion with the next generation of skaters.
