The Centennials took the 2 hour bus trip to Welland Sunday for the Jr. Canadians home opener.
Ayr opened the scoring with just 1:48 remaining in the first. Scriven from the deep slot off to Marik at the side of the crease. With no shot he fed it to Henneberry behind the net. He tried to center it from behind the net and it was redirected in off a defenders skate. Ayr out shot Welland 14-7 and led 1-0 after 20.
Welland evened it up 5:17 into the second but it would prove to be the only one to get by a rock solid Michael Tamburro. Ayr regained the lead 21 seconds later. Craig got it back to Bianchini on the left point and he blasted a low shot on net. Preston Carvalho was at the bottom of the left circle to wrist home the rebound. Aiden Bianchini scored his first G.O.H.L goal 1:06 later. Sawyer Smith rung it around the boards to Hill at the left wing hashmarks. He fed it back to Bianchini and he snapped it on net. It rang off both post before ending up in the net. Ayr added another with 7:05 left in the second. Jones-McDonald won a battle on the left wing boards and fed it down to Atkinson on the hashmarks. He carried to the bottom of the circle before sending it across the top of the crease to Biser who rifled it in the back door. 4-1 after 40.
The Centennials didn't let up and added another 2:43 into the third. Mitchell picked up a Welland rebound off the end glass and it sent he and Carvalho off on a two on one . He carried down the right side drawing the defender before sending it across to Carvalho in the slot. He sniped it over the blocker from between the dots. The Cen's final goal came mid way through the third. Cunningham-Louks reversed it to Jones-McDonald behind his own net. He carried it coast to coast then cut to the Wellend net from below the left circle before getting off a shot. He was denied but Atkinson was there to snap home the rebound. 6-1 final.
This gives the Cens a 1-1 record to kick off the season. The Centennials next game is at home Thursday when they'll host the Stoney Creek Generals
(formerly Caledon Bombers). The Cens are improving with each ice time so you can expect to see some Jr. Hockey worth watching.

Cens Experience with The Gryphons

Big thank you to the Guelph Gryphons U14AAA team for joining us for an exclusive JR Cens Experience last night .

The team was able to tour the dressing room, meet the coaches , and watch warm up before the game .

Each of the players enjoyed a Cens Donut after the tour too 🍩
