Today wasn’t about punching a tag. It was about learning a new piece of country. Fresh moose tracks. Elk sign. Black bear and grizzly marking trees. A patch of bake apples that reminded me of home in Newfoundland. Sometimes the best days in the woods don’t end with an animal in the truck, they end with another place you’ll be excited to come back to for years. That’s what scouting is all about.

Well… yesterday was one of those fishing days. 😂🎣
Managed to catch a few, so I can’t complain… but then he showed up.
Absolute tank.
He came up, locked onto the fly, and at the last second I yanked it right out of his mouth before he could eat it. 🤦♂️
Pretty sure he’s still down there laughing at me.
Guess I’ve got a score to settle now. See ya soon, big fella. 🎣💪
Sometimes you’ve just got to wander and see what’s out there.
Spent some time exploring along the river today and stumbled across this neat little cave tucked into the bank. It definitely makes you wonder… is something living in there now, or did something call it home not too long ago?
One thing I love about getting outdoors is that there’s always something new to discover if you slow down and look.
What do you think lives in there? 🦝🐻🦫🦊
The river didn’t give up any fish today, but that’s part of it.
Not every cast ends with a bent rod, and that’s exactly why the days when it does are so memorable.
Can’t complain about an evening like this.
This is what guys like me that never catch any fish tell themselves anyway 😂
