π₯ What an incredible milestone for our Taekwon-Do Family! π
This past weekend, Lionheart Martial Arts stepped into a new arena by hosting our very first tournamentβan adventure we have been meaning to explore for years, and we could not be prouder to have finally brought it to life.
With 140 competitors across 76 divisions in patterns, sparring, and board breaking, the energy on the floor was electric from the opening bow to the final award. Beyond the competition, one of the greatest gifts tournaments provide is the opportunity to forge mutual respect, make lasting connections, and build bonds across clubs. Seeing our extended martial arts family come together, learn from one another, and grow stronger as a collective community was the true highlight of the day.
A Heartfelt Tribute to Our Volunteers
While the action unfolded on the mats, the true backbone of this entire event was our volunteer crew. We had a small, dedicated team who carried a tremendous load from start to finish. That commitment began the night before, spending hours meticulously laying out rings and piecing together every mat to ensure our competitors had a safe, professional competition floor ready for morning.
Throughout the day, they kept the entire operation running smoothlyβmanaging ring flow, keeping divisions moving, and problem-solving at every turn. Many of our volunteers worked so selflessly that they refused to leave their posts, to the point where they literally had to be ordered to sit down and take a well-deserved break for themselves.
That relentless work ethic and dedication didn't stop until the tournament ended, when that same core team stayed to break down the rings, pack the gear, and clear the venue.
That level of indomitable spirit and perseverance represents the very heart of what we teach in our Dojang. You did not just help an event run; you carried it on your shoulders. Without each and every one of you, this tournament simply could not have happened, and our gratitude runs deeper than words can express.
To the coaches, instructors, umpires, and referees who upheld the standard of our art: thank you for your fair leadership, time, and professionalism. To every competitor who stepped onto the floor with courage and focus: thank you for inspiring all of us.
We also want to give a special shoutout to the local businesses and organizations whose partnership helped make this day a success:
The Wood Chokey for handcrafting our outstanding custom medal podiums.
Supernova Creations for producing our sharp custom medal stickers.
ICTF Alberta for supplying the competition mats to ensure our athletes had a safe ring to showcase their skills.
There is always a first for everything. Hosting was an invaluable learning experience filled with takeaways that will guide us as we refine, improve, and elevate our next tournament to where we want it to be.
Thank you to everyone who supported us on this journey. We look forward to seeing our Taekwon-Do family back on the mats next time! π₯π
