Not a lot of runners out there today!
It’s the kind of run I like to call “dodge the snowploughs” 😂
That’s a snowplough pushing a big mound of snow behind me so I had to turn around 😜

Staying active with your kids as they get older is a great way to stay close to them. Snowboarding with my (almost) 15yr old son; yes, I am the short one!

Not everyone wants to run outside in the winter but if it’s something you enjoy don’t let the cold stop you!
Covering your mouth and nose keeps the air you are breathing warm and humid and protects your lungs.

I find this very interesting; a lot of people tell me their metabolism has slowed down once they hit 40 or 50 but perhaps it’s not all because of changes in metabolism...
Weight gain in middle age is common, and is often attributed to changes in metabolism. However, this retrospective study of ~6,500 people found that several measures of metabolism, such as Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) and Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) remained constant throughout adulthood (ages 20–60).
So why might people notice weight gain in their 50s? It's possible that they were technically overeating, under-exercising, or both to the same degree when they were younger, but the overall energy surplus was small enough where it took many years to become noticeable. For instance, if you gain just one pound a year, you won’t be able to see a difference between one year and the next, but your body at 50 will have visibly more fat than your body at 20.
