Dramatic finale in Italy: The fans could hardly have wished for a more exciting outcome to the TCR Italy e TCR DSG. Audi driver Nicola Baldan from Aikoa Racing had come to Autodromo Nazionale Monza for the sixth round as the leader of the standings. In the end, however, Nicolas Taylor from PMA Motorsport (pictured) won the title in his TCR debut season in another Audi. As third in the standings, Taylor had more of an outsider’s chance, but he reshuffled the cards with his second win of the season in Saturday’s race. The 19-year-old up-and-coming driver had only driven the circuit for the first time two weeks previously. In the rain, the Canadian kept a cool head at the start behind the safety car and won from pole position. Second place went to Frenchman Teddy Clairet, who drove an Audi RS 3 LMS from the family-owned Team Clairet Sport. The decisive race on Sunday began with a setback for Nicola Baldan. The overall leader had to park his car in the starting phase due to an electrical problem and dropped back to third place in the standings. The race victory was secured by Teddy Clairet. Nicolas Taylor had started on slicks on a wet track and saw the checkered flag in seventh place. This put him level on points with Honda driver Ruben Volt from Estonia. Both drivers recorded two victories in the course of the year, but Taylor had achieved the decisive better result with a second place in Sicily in June. After Franco Girolami, an Audi driver from Aikoa Racing, won the title last year, Paolo and Matteo Ansaloni’s PMA Motorsport team has now won the championship with Audi. Taylor is the second Canadian to win a TCR title in an Audi this year, after Richard Boake from Blanchet Motorsports achieved the feat in the Sports Car Championship Canada (FEL Motorsports) in September. Championship success in the TCR Italy DSG for racing cars with dual-clutch transmissions also went to an Audi driver in Monza. Luca Franca from Aikoa Racing secured an early title win in Saturday’s race finishing second ahead of Luca Verdi, who at least saved third place in the rain with defective windshield wipers. On Sunday, Verdi from Planet Motorsport was the best Audi driver in second place and thus second in the standings.

What a season!

Series of successes in Canada: The Audi RS 3 LMS remains the benchmark in Canadian touring car racing. Richard Boake is the fifth driver in a row to win a title in this country at the wheel of the touring car with the four rings. The Audi privateer driver came to the finale of the Sports Car Championship Canada powered by Michelin (FEL Motorsports) as leader of the standings with a 24-point lead. On the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park race track, Boake overtook his title rival Anthony Martella, who had started from pole position in another Audi RS 3 LMS, on the first lap of the first race. Boake, Martella and Honda driver Ruben Volt were within 1.5 seconds of each other and fought a thrilling battle to the finish. In the end, Boake celebrated his fourth win of the season with the Blanchet Motorsports team. In the second race, 15-year-old Martella took his third win of the season. Boake followed just 192 thousandths of a second behind in second place, making him the new champion. Eight of the ten victories this season went to the Audi RS 3 LMS. Boake is already the fifth Audi privateer driver in a long series of successes. In 2020, Zachary Vanier was champion of the Canadian Touring Car Championship (CTCC), followed by Travis Hill (2021), Jerimy Daniel (2022) and Dean Baker (2023) winning the Sports Car Championship Canada powered by Michelin in an Audi RS 3 LMS. Audi was also unbeatable in the TCR China Challenge on the fourth race weekend. On the Daqing circuit, Liu Zichen took victory in the first sprint ahead of Wu Yifan. Both were competing for the 326 Racing Team in an RS 3 LMS each. Third place went to Hu Heng in an Audi from the GYT Racing team. In the second race, Pan Yiming in an Audi from Nkoda HW Racing overtook his rival Richard Li, who run wide in the Lynk & Co. with three laps to go, and ultimately won by three tenths of a second ahead of Audi brand colleague Hu Heng. In the DEC - Danish Endurance Championship, Team Storm Development achieved its second win of the season in its class. Stefan Lorenzen and Niels Nyboe shared an Audi RS 3 LMS in Djursland and were more than 26 seconds faster than the Cupra of their pursuers in the second race.

SCCC TCR TEAM CHAMPS!!!

We never gave up, always believed in ourselves and we accomplished what we set out to do. It wasn’t easy, but very well worth it.

Andrew may have said it best, this was supposed to be a straightforward run to the title… but it wasn’t.. we fought, we hustled and believed we could get this, and here we are! A great quote comes to mind that sums up the season : “It ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward!”

Once again thanks you to the sponsors and the crew, you guys are unbelievable and there is no team without you!

Richard, thank you. The talent you showed week in and week out was incredible, you took control and kept control of races you had no business being apart of and like the team never gave up.

Now, I’ll speak on behalf of the team here..
Frank… THANK YOU!! We all know, just like everyone in the paddock knows how much you love this sport and how much of yourself you have given to this sport over the years. From the emotional speeches in the trailer when we were so close to the emotional speech you gave this weekend in front of the entire paddock… it is clear to everyone just how much this sport, this team and this championship means to you. So thank you for putting and pushing this team to become champions!!

Won down. 🏁
One to go. ⚔️

Great drive by from P2 to get the win in the 9th race of the season. Final race today at 12:30pm EST.

08/12/2024

Not the results we wanted and maybe should have had after leading the most laps over the weekend, but the results we needed in the end and that’s what matters.

Heading home with the points lead.

08/10/2024

Result doesn’t equal the drive.

Lead all but the last 5 minutes after we started to overheat while leading and fell to the back. Tough luck on the streets of 3R.

Regroup and go again tonight for Round 8 at 6:15pm.

07/21/2024

A very welcome result!

Our team are absolute beasts for this weekend! Such determination and dedication from this group to put a winning car on the track! Two very late nights.. or very early mornings as us leaving Toronto with a win and a P2 for two podiums. Job well done all around!

Huge congratulations to $ on capturing his first win in SCCC!!! An extremely well driven race!
