And yet. Research shows that people are statistically more likely to follow fitness advice from someone who is lean, even when they already know that leanness and expertise are not the same thing.
It is a well-documented bias, and the fitness industry has spent decades reinforcing it.
The best programming I’ve encountered didn’t come from whoever had the best physique in the room. It came from people who understood movement, adaptation, evidence, and how to actually coach a human being.
A six-pack doesn’t write your program. Your trainer’s certifications, their continuing education, their ability to cue, regress, progress, and actually see you, does.
