Urban Maple Tap

Urban Maple went to the tap to check on his sap, but when he got there the bucket was bare and had to go home alone.

Well......the weather again is not co-operating. I don't believe the season is over as the trees haven't budded and we have some below freezing days coming up. I will wait to see what the trees will give up.
If we get more I'm hopeful that the week after spring break holds the promise of yet more sap to come as the weather looks perfect. Cold nights and sunny days.

Sorry I couldn't wait. Gluten-free french toast with fresh maple syrup, mapled homemade bacon and fresh fruit. Ahhh...what could be more complete for a great canadian breakfast.I think I need another sleep, so full.

Well after the trees reluctantly gave up their sap for the past 2 days we got approx 200 liters. As you can see it has boiled down to 5 finished liters of the finest, sweetest nectar from the limited number of Brampton trees that I tap.
This syrup is just boiled filtered maple syrup all natural with absolutely nothing added.( just water boiled away.
Pancakes and waffles this weekend, enjoy all.

Well tree suppliers, this is the latest batch of maple syrup. Dark in colour but rich with maple flavour. (I tested it) TeeHee
Mother Nature has thrown another wrench into our spring tapping with another cold snap and lots of wind. I will check tomorrow for scattered buckets and replace where needed if you haven't already replaced them.
Don't dismay though as it looks like a good run coming up. Fingers crossed it's all uphill from here.

Today was a good day for sap. Mother nature has coaxed maple trees to relinquish some of her sweet nectar for us. It's on the boil and should be bountiful for a while with the exception of Saturday when the cold will be with us day and night. ( the sap freezes on the spices and in the lines. Fear not though as next week we will be boiling with a vengeance. Stay tuned.

Well folks.....the weather is not co operating with the trees. It looks like Mother Nature wants to let the trees go sleep a little longer. They got up for a quick p*e last week but then back to sleep again.
After this cold spell it will start and really come on until the trees bud. Hold on to your buckets as it's going to get windy as well.
Back on track Tuesday or Wednesday.

After a fast start only to have the sap stop for a few days it gave time to boil. The results are a pure med colour of the tastiest maple syrup in Brampton. Bring on the pancakes.

Well after a couple of great sap days the sun has retreated behind the clouds. Weather is okay but unless the sun returns to brighten our day and caress the sap from the trees it looks like a dry spell for some days.
I will keep y'all posted. In the meantime sweet maple dreams everyone.

It's tree tapping time.

Well we have come to that time of year once again. I will start tapping the maple trees starting mid Feb (weather permitting). I still have a few buckets left for tapping so if anyone wants their maple tree tapped please message me and I will see if I can fit you in. Brampton area only please.
This is a six week process and should finish up late March.
Looking forward to a bountiful season.
