Samaritan House Training Centre

Our Literacy Program is seeking volunteers! We’re looking for tutors to join us in the classroom to assist our learners as they work to achieve their goals.

We're back to school here at the Training Centre! Our Adult Literacy classes begin September 2nd.

These classes are open to all levels of learners and are available at no cost from September to June.

We will be closed on Good Friday, April 18th, with normal classes resuming on Monday, April 21st.

As of October 1st, 2024 our Age is an Asset, HATS Computer and Literacy programs and services will be ending.

Age is an Asset is an employment readiness program designed to equip adults (age 21-64) with essential skills and training to assist in entering or returning to the workforce.
The program is a holistic approach delivered in a classroom setting and includes:

- Resume/Cover letter, Job Search and Interview skills
- Wellness and Health
- Communication and People skills
- Certification (First Aid/CPR, WHMIS, Food Safe, Service Advantage - Customer Service)
- Computer skills refresher
- 2 week Work Placement and much more

The Samaritan House Employment Resource Centre is on the hunt for steel toe boots. Thank you for supporting our programs!

We're looking for steel toe boots for our Fit for Work Program! If you have any in gently used condition that you're no longer needing that you would like to donate, please bring them by 136A 11th Street. Thank you!

Our next Age is an Asset program session is running April 15th - June 27th, 2024!

Age is an Asset is an employment readiness program designed to equip adults (ages 21-64) with essential skills and training to assist in entering or returning to the workforce. This 11-week program is FREE and runs four times a year. The hours of the program are 8:30 am to 2:30 pm, Monday to Friday, and includes a two-week job placement to gain experience. The program is a holistic approach delivered in a classroom setting and includes:

- Resume/Cover Letter, Job Search and Interview Skills
- Wellness and Health
- Communication and People skills
- Certification (First Aid/CPR, WHMIS, Food Safe, Service Advantage - Customer Service)
- Computer Skills refresher
- Two-week Work Placement and much more

Good morning everyone, with all of the snow we received the Samaritan House Training Centre along with the Samaritan House Employment Resource Centre will be closed today. The food bank will be open regular hours but will be a bit limited, please bear with us. We appreciate your understanding!

Calls went out to all remaining families whose Christmas Cheer hamper is still waiting at our Food Bank. Be sure to pick them up by tomorrow if you received a call!
