Restorative yoga allows your body and mind to completely relax as you focus on releasing and letting go. The practice places your body in a relaxed state that allows your nervous system to shift out of the sympathetic state, the fight or flight mode. When you access the parasympathetic nervous system, it aids healing and relaxation in the body. This is why I like to refer to Restorative Yoga as Yoga for your nervous system.

Chair yoga is a low-impact form of exercise that is easy on the joints, making it suitable for seniors with arthritis or other mobility issues. But don’t let the name fool you! Chair yoga is a great form of exercise, the practice can help reduce chronic pain, including joint pain, by improving flexibility. It can also improve circulation in the body. Chair yoga incorporates gentle movements with a focus on the breath creating the perfect practice for those that may find getting up and down to the floor a bit challenging.

Join me every Monday from 8:00-8:45 am at The Fitness Centre to begin your day and your week with a gentle movements class.
