VOLUNTEERS WANTED — JOIN THE RIVERHAWKS GAME DAY CREW!

The Brant County Riverhawks are getting ready for our inaugural season, and we’re looking for great people from our community to help bring Saturday nights at the Hawks Nest to life!

It takes more than the players on the ice to create an incredible game night. Behind every game is a crew welcoming fans, selling 50/50 tickets, helping families, keeping concessions moving and creating the atmosphere that makes people want to come back.

Now we’re building that crew — and we want YOU to be part of it.

We’re looking for volunteers to help with:

• Ticket scanning & entrances
• Arena ushers & fan assistance
• 50/50 sales
• Merchandise & program sales
• Concessions & Blue Line Club
• Sponsor/VIP hospitality
• Game-day promotions & fan engagement
• Set-up/tear-down
• General game-day support

Whether you’re a hockey fan, student looking for volunteer hours, parent, retiree or simply someone who loves being involved in the community, we’d love to hear from you.

No hockey experience is necessary. We’ll show you what you need to know. We’re simply looking for friendly, reliable people who want to help create something special.

And this isn’t just another season.

This is Year One.

The people who join us now will be the original crew that helped establish what Riverhawks game nights and the Hawks Nest become.

We are incredibly grateful to anyone willing to give their time. A community hockey club doesn’t happen without people stepping forward to support it, and we will never take that support for granted.

RIVERHAWKS NAME RICK VOLTERA FIRST HEAD COACH IN FRANCHISE HISTORY

The Brant County Riverhawks are proud to officially announce Rick Voltera as Head Coach for our inaugural 2026–27 season.

Originally from BC and now calling Brantford home, Voltera brings experience, leadership and a distinctly old-school hockey mentality behind the Riverhawks bench.

His résumé includes Waterloo AAA, U15 OHL pre-camp and most recently Head Coach of the Tillsonburg Thunder. One of his proudest accomplishments has been coaching players who went on to reach pro hockey’s highest level.

Now, Voltzy takes the reins with an opportunity to help establish the Riverhawks identity from Day 1.

“My coaching style is pretty simple — old school. I like crash-and-bang hockey. Compete hard, finish your checks, make teams work for their space and be a team that isn’t fun to play against.”

But there will be structure behind the physicality.

“I want us to play strategic hockey and play the game the right way, but with a little side of rough and tumble. We’re going to have structure, but I also want us playing fast, physical hockey.”

His expectation?

“100% effort. You come to the rink ready to compete and ready to work.”

Voltera is excited about building an expansion team alongside Riverhawks management.

“There are good players here, a good venue and space to compete. Management is putting together a good group and now it’s about bringing everybody together and getting to work.”

And his message to Riverhawks fans is clear:

“They’re going to see a fast, hard-hitting hockey team. I want us competing every night, playing with an edge and giving the fans a team they’re excited to watch.”

The ultimate goal?

“To bring a championship to Brant County in Year 1 would be pretty special.”

We’re not building this team simply to participate. We’re building a culture, an identity and a hockey club capable of competing for a championship.

Now we’ve got the man behind the bench to lead it.

The bench is yours, Voltzy.

🚨MAJOR TRADE ANNOUNCEMENT🚨

The Brant County Riverhawks have completed a major three-player trade with the Alvinston Killer Bees, acquiring the NPHL rights to Kalib “Gus” Ford, Josh Slegers and Austin Keleher.

This is a major addition of talent, experience and leadership to the Riverhawks organization.

KALIB “GUS” FORD

Ford brings an elite professional résumé. The Tillsonburg native is a former FPHL MVP and league scoring champion, and followed that up by being named FPHL Forward of the Year after recording 42 goals and 88 points in just 43 games.

Ford became the first player in Carolina Thunderbirds history to score 100 goals and has amassed more than 460 regular-season points in 255 games in the FPHL. Simply put, he has established himself as one of the most dangerous offensive players at that level.

JOSH SLEGERS

The Simcoe native brings size, experience and professional pedigree to the Riverhawks blue line.

The 6’3” right-shot defenceman played U SPORTS hockey with the University of Windsor before moving into the professional ranks, competing in both the SPHL and FPHL.

Known as a mobile, physical defensive defenceman, Slegers also brings leadership experience and already knows the NPHL after suiting up for Alvinston last season and winning the Metropolitan Championship.

AUSTIN KELEHER

Keleher brings youth, leadership and an award-winning two-way game.

The Cambridge native captained the Ayr Centennials and was named the 2024–25 GOJHL Eastern Conference Best Defensive Forward, receiving the Joe Veroni Memorial Award.

The 6’1” right-shot forward built his junior career on compete, responsibility and doing the little things required to win.

🦅 PLAYER SIGNING 🦅

The Brant County Riverhawks are proud to announce the signing of goaltender Tristan Lewis for the 2026–27 NPHL season!

The Port Elgin native joins the Riverhawks after most recently playing with the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks of the Ontario Elite Hockey League. Lewis is a 6-foot 1, left-catching goaltender with previous experience in the GOJHL, including time with the St. Marys Lincolns and Chatham Maroons. He also continued his career at the University of Providence, where he competed at the US collegiate level.

Known for his mobility, competitiveness and ability to stay loose between the pipes, Lewy brings both experience and personality to the Riverhawks crease.

“I’m a very mobile goalie who loves having fun on the ice.”

Lewis was drawn to Brant County by the opportunity to help a new organization establish itself immediately, as well as the group already coming together for the inaugural season.

“It’s a newer team looking to be successful right away, and it looks like a great group of guys. I also love the colours the team went with!”

Riverhawks fans can expect a goaltender who brings his best effort every time he gets the opportunity to defend the crease.

“I bring my best every night to help the team win games.”

One of the proudest moments of Lewy’s hockey career came when he helped his school capture a West Regional Championship—an experience that gave him the opportunity to compete in meaningful games and celebrate a championship alongside his teammates.

When asked what Riverhawks fans are going to love most about his game, his answer was simple:

“I compete on every play, leading to some exciting plays.”

Lewis adds another experienced, competitive goaltender to the Riverhawks roster as we continue building a strong group both on the ice and inside the dressing room. His mobility, compete level and enthusiasm for the game will make him an exciting player for Riverhawks fans to watch this season.

🦅 PLAYER SIGNING 🦅

The Brant County Riverhawks are proud to announce the signing of goaltender Ben Edwards for the 2026–27 NPHL season!

The Brantford-born, 6-foot-2, left-catching netminder brings an impressive background to the Riverhawks crease. Edwards developed through Brantford Minor Hockey before playing with the Toronto Titans, Lindsay Muskies, Cambridge Redhawks and most recently, the Woodstock Lakers. He was also selected by the Peterborough Petes in the second round of the 2019 OHL U18 Priority Selection.

Known for his calm presence in the net, Eddy gives the Riverhawks a composed and competitive goaltender who has experience playing in meaningful games and understands what it takes to win.

“I would describe my style of play in one word—calm.”

For Edwards, joining the Riverhawks also provides an opportunity to return home and compete in front of the people closest to him.

“I wanted to join the Riverhawks for the opportunity to play locally in front of my family and friends.”

Riverhawks fans can expect a goaltender who will bring a strong work ethic and battle for his teammates every time he steps between the pipes.

“Fans can expect a hard-working player, and I think they’re going to love my compete level.”

One of the proudest moments of Eddy’s career came with the Cambridge Redhawks when they captured the 2022 Cherrey Cup.

Adding a local goaltender with Junior A experience, championship pedigree and a calm, competitive presence is another important piece of what we’re building in Brant County.
