Mommy Moves Fitness. Small group fitness classes that help to support, heal, and strengthen your bod

I am not about "tips and tricks to lose the baby weight" nor am I a preachy perfect "this is how you should live your life" fitness trainer. I'm just a mom trying to take good care of myself and my family and will share what I learn along the way. I'm all about self-love, eating good (not always good for me) food, getting enough rest and sleep and moving my body in ways that feel good to me.

Mommy C came rushing into class 40 minutes late. It had been "one of those days." We have ALL been there as moms. Rather than allow one of those days to get in the way of putting herself first and getting her workout in, she still came to class and worked hard for the last 20 minutes. Way to go Mommy C!!

Mr. E has it going on! Strength comes in all shapes and sizes ;)

And can I just say - he's wearing the Mommy Moves colour! Coincidence? I don't think so!

One mommy in the current session has an 8 year old daughter that comes to class with her now that school is out. We were mid-circuit when I looked over to see that she was doing the same exercise as her mom!

Our kids look up to us so much and want to emulate us. They absorb our habits and are always watching. It's exciting to see this mommy demonstrating how to live a healthy lifestyle and her daughter is clearly paying attention!

Today roughly one-third of women are giving birth by c-section. Unfortunately most of these women don’t realize that once their incision has healed completely, problems can still occur as a result of the scar tissue. No instructions are being given to women for how to heal and care for their c-section scars after they go home.

If you feel pain, tightness or pulling at your scar during exercise or other daily activities this article is a must read!

Fabulous way to start the week: A client telling me that she can now zip a favourite and once too tight leather jacket up with ease.

This client and I have chosen NOT to take measurements or do weigh-ins. We focus on healthy habits and consistency in the gym and the results are showing without any worry or stress about numbers. .

Today I carried my cranky tired 12 month old home from the park. It took about 20 minutes and he weighs just over 20lbs. He was happy in my arms and fell asleep by the time we got home and I got in a pretty good workout. Feeling grateful for my body and the strength to carry my growing baby boy.

What things can your body do that you are grateful for?

Building a strong foundation is the key to safely returning to all the exercises you love. These mommys are well on their way!

The new message for postpartum fitness is about loving your body, allowing it to heal, and choosing exercises that support recovery, not slow it down or cause damage. It is not about trying to get your body back (because really, you've always had a body - it never went anywhere, it simply changed).

Water - are you drinking enough? The Mayo clinic recommends about 2L/day for women, or 3L/day for breastfeeding women. Keeping hydrated can help with energy levels, brain function, milk supply and metabolism.

This is a glass with 0.5L (500mls or 2 cups) of water in it. Aim to drink this amount (or 1.5 glasses if breastfeeding) approximately every 3 hours throughout the day.

"Wins and losses come a dime a dozen. But effort? Nobody can judge effort. Effort is between you and you. Effort ain’t got nothing to do with nobody else. Because every day is a new day. Every moment is a new moment.
" - Ray Lewis

YES! Each moment, each day, is an opportunity to make an effort. Today's effort might be different than yesterday or tomorrow, but knowing that you tried, that you showed up and did your best for just that moment is the most you can ever ask of yourself!
