Subject: Fishing Trip and Toast to Garry

Hello gents:

First of all I would like to thank those of you that were able to join us for Garry’s celebration of life back in June. Kelly and I were truly humbled by the show of support from everyone, especially all of you in the Chartwell family.

That afternoon a number of us discussed the idea of having a Fishing Trip this fall at Camp Stella Maris – both as a reunion and to toast Garry. I’ve reached out to the camp and, while our usual timeslot of the 3rd week of Sep is not available, the weekend of Oct 18 – 20 is free. I called the golf course and they’ll be open till mid-Nov so we can still golf Fri and have use of the usual camp facilities (Peggy’s Café, mini golf, beach for horseshoes, etc). And, most importantly, we have been given the go-ahead to consume alcohol while on site (lol, deal breaker I know!!).

Anyways, the next step is to get a show of hands on who would like to attend. The camp would like an answer soon so please respond asap if you’re interested. Also, please take a look at the names on this email distribution – I most likely missed some guys so feel free to forward this on to any Chartwell alumni.

Sad news. Garry Hackett a Chartwell Original passed away peacefully on Monday in Oakville. He was 84, lived a full life and was an inspiration to all who knew him. Thoughts and prayers go out to Kenny, Kelly and the kids. Garry always had a smile on his face and usually had a bad (great) joke to go with it. You will be missed my friend - rest in peace!

There will be a Celebration of Life in Garry's honour on Sunday, June 2nd at Pipes & Taps Pub in Oakville from 1:00 to 3:00 pm for those who wish to drop by.

Reg, peas & carrots, The coldest cold. There will always be a warm place in our hearts.

Some of you may have already heard, for those that haven’t, my wife Tina and I are heading to Louisville, home of the derby and bourbon. This is an exciting opportunity for Tina and as a bonus, I get to retire.

We will be hosting an open house on New Year’s Day from 2-8ish. Formal invite to follow. I know Chartwell is in good hands with Daniel and Brad and I do plan on making the trip to Stella Maris in September.
