2011-12 was a very successful season. The played Applewood Coyotes finished second in the regular season and won the bronze medal in the playoffs. Overall, the team played 50 games including all MHL, exhibition and tournament matches, finishing with a record of 28 wins, 16 losses and 6 ties. The highlights of the season included a thrilling 1-0 overtime victory to claim the Tier 2 Burlington Bulldogs MD Challenge Tournament title over the Hamilton Tigers in December and a 4-2 victory over the Applewood Gold team to win the inaugural Wes Durie Novice Invitational right here in Streetsville. The success on the ice would not have been possible without the strong team of parents off the ice. All the parents helped out with organizing team events, running very successful fundraisers, driving carpool and making sure the coaching staff was well caffeinated. After more than 150 hours of ice time this season, all the boys became better hockey players and had a season that they will always remember.

Folks:

Wanted to make sure that Streetsville Minor Hockey is aware of the free New Year Skate that Councillor Carlson, MPP Delaney and MP Brad Butt are hosting from 12-2 pm on January 1st. It would be great to see some of the players out hopefully wearing their jerseys.
