While we now know that vitamin C does NOT cure the common cold, it does provide many benefits.
It is needed for the development and repair of all your tissues- helping your immune system, protecting against eye disease, wrinkles (it is needed in the formation of collagen) wound healing, cartilage health, and even your teeth to name a few.
It is also an antioxidant helping in the fight against free radicals.
Having said all that, it only works if you can absorb it.
Vitamin C & sugar/glucose have the same receptor sites. Which is like two plugs trying to get into the same socket. Your body will prioritize absorbing the sugar/glucose.
Conclusion:
Don't have vitamin C with large amounts of carbs and especially don't have it with lots of sugar, as it will first need to combat the oxidative stress from the sugar before it can get to work in the body.
For optimal absorption take your C first thing in the morning when blood sugar is low and don't rely on store bought orange juice for your vitamin C
Attached are OJ labels for reference. Every 5g of sugar is equivalent to 1 teaspoon of sugar.

Canadian adults get 'D' grade for physical fitness levels
The non-profit group, which promotes healthy living, gives adults an overall "D" grade for physical activity, but that mark may be flattering considering only a fraction of Canadians over the age of 18 get the recommended amount of heart-pumping exercise per week.
