On December 31, 2018 we closed our doors for the final time.
For 15 years, we have proudly served our local fitness community as one of Canadaโs premier training facilities. Our vision started as a simple idea โ to provide an elite athletic club with an abundance of equipment, where people could maximize their physical potential and take their level of fitness to a new personal height. For more than a decade, Gold's Gym Burnaby served as a staple to the local health and fitness community. Our club was home to industry professionals, athletes, serious weightlifters, and those simply looking to stay active to live a better life. Visitors became members, and those members became friends and those friends became family.
What began as a goal to create a professional-standard fitness centre quickly and naturally blossomed into something much greater. By creating a unique atmosphere, harboured by a staff who cared as much about personal connections as they did customer service, Gold's Gym Burnaby became a second-home for those who joined the club. Stemming from a common interest centred around fitness, friendships were born, relationships were fostered, and lifelong bonds were created. When asking our members what they would miss most about the club, a few select words were common among the responses - HOME, FRIENDS, FAMILY, COMMUNITY.
Upon hearing what our members had to say about the closing of our gym, one thing was evident, Gold's Gym Burnaby was more than just a gym. We were more than a place for people to come exercise and break a sweat. To many, we became a home away from home.

We want to thank everyone for their on-going support and kind words these last two weeks. You have made the hardest of times manageable and we are so grateful for you - our members. So your workouts can continue as normal, we intend to provide the same service and top-quality equipment until our closure. Staff are working hard to make sure your final visits are memorable and as we get ready to close, we ask that you treat them with respect and kindness. Unfortunately, we have recently experienced a racist and unkind message.
โWhat makes me smile is that you lost your job. Should go Nanny. Lol.โ
Pascal Therrien, your unkind words have revealed to us our strength, confirmed our unyielding bond as a work-family and served as an example of what we can overcome. We hope the future affords you more peace so that you too, can experience the bounty kindness provides.

Have you ever consistently added into your exercise routine? Traditional and sumo deadlifts offer a great deal of benefits, including increased core and functional strength, as well as the development of muscle mass. The deadlift is a full-body, compound exercise, and focuses mostly on the quads, hamstrings, lower-back, traps, and forearms.
How to Deadlift:
1. Stand with your mid-foot under the barbel
2. Bend over and grab the bar with a shoulder-width grip
3. Bend your knees until your shins touch the bar
4. Lift your chest up and straighten your lower back
5. Take a big breath, hold it, and stand up with the weight
If you are looking to add both mass and strength to your physique, deadlifts are an amazing addition to your workout regiment.
