Our new weapon for this term at is the Sword! π‘οΈβοΈ
While there are countless designs of swords throughout history, our practice style comes from the Japanese Katana, made famous by its connection to the Samurai.
The Katana has built a reputation throughout history as a standard amongst swords, known for its overall versatility & usefulness compared to other more specialized blades.
We still practice with the same style of wooden sword, or Bokken, that was used in ancient Japan by training warriors.

We have to wish a very Happy Birthday to our own Mr. Daniel! πππ
Mr. Dorland has been training with us since he was in Tigers and has been involved at our Dojo in many ways over the years, from performing with our Demo Teams, being one of our top Assistant Instructors, or teaching our MaTrix tricking class. He achieved his Third Dan just last year, and was a large component of making that Extravaganza such a dynamic success. By the year end, he played a big role in the Dorlands winning our Family of the Year Award.π₯ππ
Mr. Dorland has a reputation of being a beast on the mats and a game competitor, whether through his very technical & powerful sparring, to his high level tricking moves. His strong focus and work ethic set him apart, as he takes his training seriously. As such, he truly represents what it means to be a martial arts athlete. πͺ
On top of that, his great sense of humour and humble attitude make Mr. Daniel one of the best training partners to have in class, just be ready work hard and keep up with his pace!
We owe a huge thank you for everything Mr. Daniel brings to our team! πππ

Chanbara is essentially sport sword fighting, using our soft foam swords/ bats, and working on first to strike cleanly scores the point. This category is often a popular one with our Juniors since even beginners can join in the fun, and for their high energy rounds!
Our Fight For Fun Tournament is coming up Saturday, June 6th! We have Chanbara categories for all skill levels! Youβll find all registration info at our Dojo Front Desk. β
