Back in Vancouver I’m getting ready for another season of West Coast cold water diving. This Oceaner Polar drysuit that I’m wearing is made of 3.5mm black and blue Yamamoto Lycra with Oceaner signature boots, SiTech valves and YKK metal zipper. 3mm black Yamamoto skin neoprene was chosen for my tuck neck seal and my push through wrist seals (verses tuck wrist seals). The suit was made so I could wear a lightweight one piece wooly bear underneath so I can keep toasty warm even at temperatures of 5-7 degrees centigrade in the more northern waters.

Back on the beach after our last snorkel around the reef at Playa La Ropa, Zihuatanejo before heading home to Vancouver. Gary Mallender and I are wearing our reversible 1.5mm vests. I’m wearing the coated gold smooth skin side out while Gary is wearing the black Lycra side out. The extra warmth allows us to stay in the water much longer.

In from an early morning snorkel around the reef at La Ropa in Zihuatenejo with Gary Mallender. The water is alive with turtles, white spotted eagle rays and a multitude of beautiful small reef fish - puffers, yellow tang, pennant butterfly, 4 spot butterfly and blue stripe butterfly. Even a huge school of bait fish.
