📝 FOOTBALLR'S FIRST WOMEN'S PATHWAY HAS PRODUCED ITS FIRST PROFESSIONAL SIGNING ⚽️
Back in August, Footballr took its first serious step into creating overseas opportunities for female players through our Women's Showcase Program in Cyprus, and in collaboration with Stepout Cyprus🫱🏻🫲🏼
Today, we're proud to celebrate the success of Megan Cardenas, a 24-year-old center-midfielder from Washington, USA, who earned a professional contract with Xylofagou FC following her participation in a trial period.
Since arriving in Cyprus, Megan has:
✅ Signed a professional contract
✅ Joined the first team
✅ Received a salary, accommodation and other forms of support through the club
✅ Become involved coaching within the academy club structure
✅ Been named team captain ✨️
The photo snapped here was taken right before the team's first official match of the season - a moment that reflects the hard work, commitment, and courage it takes to pursue opportunities abroad.
For Footballr, this is more than just one player's success story.
It's proof that real opportunities can be created when ambitious players are placed in the right environment and given the chance to showcase themselves.
This was our first serious women's football initiative, and we couldn't be more proud of the outcome.
Congratulations, Megan. We wish you continued success throughout the season and look forward to helping create more opportunities for female players in the future. ⚽❤️
