Wild Rose Ball Hockey Association (WRBHA) Ball Hockey Alberta and Alberta Minor Ball Hockey Association (AMBHA) are excited to announce that both organizations have ratified a merger agreement effective January 25th, 2025. With the blessing of our parent organization the Canada Ball Hockey / Hockey-Balle Canada, unified operations of the Association tentatively named Ball Hockey Alberta (BHA) will begin on the 25th of January.

A special meeting has been called for this date to be held in Edmonton, AB to conduct initial business and to elect a new Board of Directors. There are nine positions up for election, and any member of the Association (a member in good standing of either WRBHA or AMBHA) is eligible to run.

The positions are as follows:

President - 1 year term
Treasurer - 1 year term
Vice President (Adults) - 1 year term
Vice President (Womens) - 2 year term
Vice President (Youth - Integrated) - 1 year term
Vice President (Youth - Girls) - 2 year term
Vice President (Membership) - 2 year term
Tournament Director - 1 year term
High Performance Director (Team Alberta) - 2 year term

Members interested in running should submit a cover letter, sports resume, and letter of support from your league to [email protected] no later than January 18th, 2025.

This organization will foster a new era of growth and cooperation for Ball Hockey in Alberta, and we are excited to work with our combined memberships to realize this goal.

Congrats to Brianna Finke and Robyn Brokenshire for being selected from our first U20 Womens Team Alberta to represent Canada at the ISBHF World Championship in Slovakia next year!

Alberta Minor Ball Hockey was saddened to hear of the passing of Steve Posavec from Edmonton late last month.

Steve was a legend in the ball hockey world for many years and his contributions to the sport were instrumental in its growth in Alberta. Steve contributed countless hours of his time, and was part of the team who founded AMBHA year’s ago.

On behalf of all our members, we would like to offer our condolences to Steve’s family. May he rest in peace.
