What exactly does stretching do? π€
Tricky question! I know! Muscles have a set physical length. When you stretch at maximum length, you π«CANNOTπ« increase the length of the muscles (and can run the risk of tears in muscles or ligaments)
But! We CAN increase the range of motion in a joint...βΌ
And the reason why consistent yoga practice is so effective at doing so, is due to the repetition of practice, and longer holds that focus on relaxing the nervous system in the body π§ββοΈπ§ββοΈ
Muscles can be "tight" in a sense that they get used to being in a certain position and that become their natural resting position. Which means they HAVE room to relax. This requires the work of the nervous system to first ALLOW the muscles to relax. And this takes TIME and PERSISTENCE β°. Consistent effort, as well as being kind and calming to yourself is truly key to improve your mobility! π€ΈββοΈ
βAlways remember! When stretching, it is NOT just the muscles that are being stretched. You've got ligaments vessels and nerves ALL over the body. So go slow and never push your body to positions that don't feel quite right ππ

How do you keep a moment with you forever?π§ββοΈ
Stop. Breath in the air around you, taste it on your palate, feel the brush of air through your nostrils
Feel the sensations of Earth and space around you
Memorize the feeling in your heart as you take in your surroundings. As you breath, imagine that feeling expanding in your chest, taking up as much space as possible
Never forget, life is fleeting β°, even the most beautiful of moments won't last forever
Be there for them as fully as possible. Soak up the beautiful in life π§ββοΈππππ
