Well, we finally made it back to Calgary last night. We took a shuttle service from Nelson to Cranbrook then loaded up all our bikes & gear into a U-Haul & rental car & drove back to Calgary. In the end we biked about 1,050km over 17 days on the GDMBR, the BC Trail & the Kootenay Confluence route. We had ourselves an adventure, met lots of nice & cool people along the way & for the most part had amazing campsites & sampled lots of craft beer & after our initial bear (and wolf) encounters, things settled down. Hard to believe we started the ride off pushing our bikes up & over Elk Pass in 6” of snow and ended things riding in 35C weather in the Kootenay’s. Cheers to our crew!!

A nice easy ride (thank god) from Burton to Edgewood, BC with a cool cable ferry. Into camp early so a dip in lake, time on beach & let the legs recharge😊

We got a special treat today. Once we climbed like hell to get out of Nelson we rode the sweet Slocan Rail Trail up the Slocan Valley.

Had an awesome day riding single track & gravel roads on the Chief Isadore Trail from Baynes Lake to Cranbrook. Although our tongues were hanging on the ground a lot as we climbed to the top of the trail. At Cranbrook we jumped on the paved Kimberley Trail to the Riverside RV Campground in Marysville. Couldn’t resist a pic of the Establishment Brewing Co ()beer sticker.

What started out as type 2 fun rapidly descended to type 3 fun quickly on Elk Pass between AB & BC on the GDMBR. But things have a way of balancing & we were rewarded with a super fast ride to Elkford.
