What a weekend from this crew. Mountains, mud, rain, lightening, podiums, and a whole lot of kilometres.
Olivier paced 60 km of a 230 km record attempt on the Icefields Parkway. Jen B. took on one of the toughest courses in western Canada at the Stoked Scramble. Roch and Janelle both hit the YYC Sub Ultra, with Janelle landing 3rd overall female!
Different distances, different goals, same GRIT. We are so proud of every single one of you

Trail running can feel like a whole different sport. New gear, new terrain, new rules about how fast you are supposed to go up a hill. 🐻
So we are taking four hours to work through ALL of it.
The Trail Running Camp is happening Sunday, September 20 at Paskapoo Slopes, in collaboration with Grizzly Mountain Events. We are covering:
⛰️ Gear. Poles, vests, belts, layers, bear spray. What you actually need and what you can skip
⛰️ Fuelling and hydration for a longer day out
⛰️ A proper trail warm up you can keep using
⛰️ Uphills, downhills, roots, rocks, and technical terrain, out on real trail
⛰️ Open Q&A on the Grizzly course, relay logistics, and whatever else you have been Googling at 11pm
This is for trail runners of ALL levels. Whether you are heading to Grizzly solo, running a relay leg, or you have just been curious about getting off the pavement, you are welcome here. Every pace, lots of regrouping, nobody gets dropped.
Sunday, Sept 20 | 9AM to 1PM | Paskapoo Slopes | $40 + tax
Spots are capped so everyone gets real coaching time. Link in bio to register.

Research suggests that humans never reach their true physiological maximum in voluntary exercise. Your central governor steps in before that point to protect vital organs and core temperature. The limit you experience in a hard race is a regulated limit, not a true physical ceiling. Belief, motivation, and mental training all influence where that regulated limit gets set.
💬 What does it mean to you to know your perceived limit is regulated, not absolute?

See you at noon!

The adaptation --> getting fitter, stronger, faster--> doesn't happen during the run! It happens during recovery. Sleep, rest days, and easy weeks are the conditions under which your training becomes performance. If you're constantly tired or your fitness is flat despite consistent training, rest might be exactly what your training needs.
💬 How do you approach recovery? Planned or forced?

Early in a race your judgment is sharp, your legs feel good, and the pace feels easy. That version of you makes decisions the mile 20 version has to live with. Going out too fast because you feel great is one of the most common and costly mistakes in long-distance racing. The best races are often run from the back half forward.
💬 Have you ever had a race fall apart in the second half because of decisions made early?
