Super excited to announce that the head goalie coach- Karissa Savage is now officially coaching at World Pro Goaltending!

"This is an incredible opportunity as this is where I trained in my goalie years and now it has come full circle- I am now able to coach and continue to develop other goalies in the space that developed me." Karissa

I also really wanted to have a place that had ice consistently and was a permanent space where I could continuously coach and goalies could call home so it was a no brainer to join forces with World Pro.

Ice times are available for the rest of August- πŸ‘‡

Are you missing hockey??

Trust me, I am missing being on the ice with you too!

There are still lots of drills that you can do without ice and full equipment. Here is a quick video to help you practice shooting the puck at home (or driveway)

GOALIE TIP OF THE DAY:

So all those that pay attention to my goaltending style know that I love playing the puck. I think it is so important for goalies to learn how to be comfortable with this skill from an early age.

As a player, I normally shoot right but as a goalie I shoot left. The TIP on how to feel comfortable (or close to) is learn how to shoot the puck the other way. It will feel super awkward but the more you practice, the more it will be natural. Start with a tennis ball before a puck, off the ice (you can start this now at home)

Then when you hit the ice again, it will feel more natural to play the puck.

If you shoot on the same way as your goalie stick then practice shooting too! You can never have too much practice.

Tag in your videos where you practice shooting the puck with the opposite stick.

Comment if you want to see more tips like this πŸ‘‡πŸ»

*disclaimer: video was taped in the summer when we were allowed to be on the ice*

Happy New Years to all my Savage Goalies and their families!

I have to say that this year was filled with a ton of positive memories. I got to team up with my best friend .snd13 and added several new goalies to the roaster. All I can say is THANK YOU for trusting me with your goaltending development and I can’t wait to see what 2021 brings for all of us.

Happy 1st Anniversary Savage Goalies πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

About a year ago, I finally decided to go after my dreams. I have thought about coaching hockey for years but I just always said β€œI’ll do it later.” Last July, I suffered a major concussion playing hockey and was told I had to take a season off 😭 I was devastated! How was I supposed to give up a sport that had given me so much?

So β€œlater” finally arrived and I started Savage Goalies to fill that hockey void in my life. There are very few female goalie coaches in πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ and I want to change that. I’m a huge believer that if we want change, we need to be visible and throw ourselves out there. I took that leap and have found something that I love to do... coach. Here is to another year of growing and developing Savage Goalies πŸ₯‚I’m so excited for what the future holds.

Thank you to all the parents, goalies, shooters and .snd13 who have trusted me with their hockey development and helped me on the ice. I love being on the ice with you all πŸ’πŸ₯…πŸ’

putting in the work at our session last week! Looking good girl πŸ’ We were working on knee shuffles, playing the puck and reaction on the glove side. Of course she had to beat me when we did breakaways with a last minute poke check

So proud of all these goalies! They all made it so easy to coach them this summer as they all worked extremely hard. Clearly their hard work paid off in their tryouts as they all made high level teams for their age groups. I am so proud of you all and wish you all the best in your upcoming seasons πŸ’

I had so much fun doing a private session with Emma today! She has improved so much since we started working together in July.

This is a great drill to do with your newer goalies as it helps them learn how to get square to the puck quickly and to get in the right position to make those second, third and fourth saves. Great work today Emma!

-Access to a car is recommended
-Part time position and flexible time slots. *Must be willing to do early morning sessions

Message a little blurb about yourself and your goalie experience and we will be in touch.

Disclaimer: we are not opposed to other genders of goalie coaches and do not want to offend anyone. However, our mission at this moment is to develop the presence of female goalie coaches for the next generation of goalies! Thank you for understanding.

To all the Goalies that are at home either homeschooling or doing online school... this one is for you!

I have had some parents reach out wanting me to do some goalie sessions during the day. I’m totally up for it but wanted to see if we could get 2 to 3 goalies to spread costs.

Practices would be an hour and we would be working on the fundamentals and technical aspect of goaltending.

Let me know 😁
