Since September 2006, the South Calgary Recreational Hockey League (SCRHL) has provided weekly ice time schedules, qualified referees, a safe playing environment, and Canadian Adult Recreational Hockey Association (CARHA) liability coverage to players aged 19 and older who are interested in playing weekday morning and weekend evening adult recreational hockey in Calgary, Alberta. The SCRHL is a no

n-bodychecking, non-slapshot league aimed at adults who would like to play refereed morning and evening ice hockey games one to two times per week for recreation, fun, and fitness. All games in each division are scheduled at convenient locations in South Calgary. All players are covered under insurance obtained from the Canadian Adult Recreational Hockey Association (CARHA) when they are registered as regulars or spares in the SCRHL. The only main item to mention regarding the insurance's validity is that all players must wear some sort of facial protection while on the ice (either a half-shield with mouthguard or a full face cage without mouthguard). If non-goalie players choose to participate without facial protection or goalies choose to play with "cat's eye" masks, then any facial injury sustained during a SCRHL game will not be covered by CARHA's insurance. Therefore, players are encouraged to play safe with appropriate facial protection. Regarding the league's players, most of the individuals who play in this league are in their early-30's to late-40's, however, all of the players' ages cover a broad range from 19 to 55. Also, the experience level of the players is rather diverse -- from novice to somewhat experienced. So, overall, it's definitely more of a senior league, but the calibre of play is still fun and competitive with an emphasis on good sportsmanship. Basically, the aim of this league is get some exercise, enjoy a game of non-checking hockey without slapshots, make some friends / business contacts, and have fun in the process before you go to work in the morning or bed in the evening.

Congratulations to this Spring & Summer 2026 Season Champions and Finalists! There were great Playoff 3-Game-Series Finals that went to OT in Game 3, just to Game 3, or resolved in Games 1 and 2 🥅🏒

The SCRHL Spring & Summer Season playoff final 3-game-series at Trico Centre for Family Wellness concluded for Morning Mixed Div (Tue-Fri) in the morning of August 27, 2026, and what a game!!

In Game 3 between the Blues & Black Adders, the Black Adders were leading 3-2 towards the end of the 3rd period, but the Blues were able to tie it with only a few minutes left in regulation time and force an overtime shootout. The overtime shootout lasted six rounds before Alex Hunter on the Blues secured the overtime win, the SCRHL Cup, and $350 worth of gift cards from Kildares Calgary for the Blues. The Black Adders also earned $150 worth of gift cards.

Congratulations to both teams for a well-played series and exciting conclusion! 🏆

The SCRHL Spring & Summer Season playoff final 3-game-series Trico Centre for Family Wellness continued for Div 1E-2E (Tue-Thu) in the evening of August 25, 2026.

The Boston Spartans wanted to ensure that there wasn’t a Game 3 in the series following the close, overtime shootout in Game 1. As a result, the Boston Spartans struck first and maintained the lead throughout the game to win the series against the Trash Pandas in Game 2.

The Boston Spartans subsequently won their second SCRHL Cup and $350 worth of Kildares Ale House gift cards. The Trash Pandas did not leave empty-handed, though, and earned $150 worth of gift cards as the other finalists.

The SCRHL is looking for another timekeeper to work Friday and Saturday nights in South Calgary at Trico Centre for Family Wellness, CARDEL REC SOUTH, or Great Plains Rec Centre with earnings of $45 per 75-minute game.

Call or text Grant at 403-703-1136 if you are tech savvy, reliable, have some experience timekeeping adult rec hockey games, and are a good multi-tasker to play tunes between stoppages in play.
