I love this time of year! The colours of the leaves changing is just so beautiful. And with fall, comes thoughts of Thanksgiving, and of course, Halloween. Having said that, its also PUMPKIN season! They are everywhere! And I personally LOVE cooking (and baking) with pumpkin. Do you have any idea the health benefits of pumpkin?
- loaded with beta-carotene
-high in fiber and protein
-low calorie and low fat
-jam packed with essential vitamins and minerals
And it tastes SO yummy in all kinds of delicious recipes. Here's one of my favorites (kid approved too). It can be made with regular flour too, if that is a preference for you. *Please see notes for modifications*
GLUTEN FREE PUMPKIN PANCAKES:
INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup quinoa flour
1/2 cup brown rice flour
1 cup oat flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 cup pumpkin puree (canned or homemade)
1 1/2 cup soy milk (or milk of choice *I used almond)
2 eggs
3 tbsp. maple syrup
2 tbsp oil (avocado, coconut, grape seed, etc.)
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Combine the dry ingredients in a bowl - flour through to cinnamon. Stir well to combine.
2. In another large bowl, combine wet ingredients.
3. Pour dry into wet and whisk until combined. Mixture will be thick.
4. Heat a griddle over medium heat, and coat with a little cooking spray or oil.
5. Using a 1/3 measuring cup (or soup ladel), scoop out a portion of the batter and spread it into a circle shape. Flip when bubbles start to form.

NOTES: *You may substitute 2 cups of all purpose and/or whole wheat flour if you prefer*

Hi there and welcome to our page. We (Jo and Clare) are two Moms, with a passion for fitness, health and wellness. We have created this page to connect with families and individuals in South Calgary and the surrounding areas who are, or who want to be, physically active and live a healthy lifestyle.
We do not discriminate - even though our page contains the word “Family” if you are an individual looking for a health and wellness group like ours – we’d love to have you! We also do not discriminate in the traditional sense of the word and welcome all ethnicity, genders and ages. However please note that our posts will be more so geared towards younger to middle aged families.
As our page grows, we will arrange our group meet-up times to vary, including early mornings and later afternoons for those who are busy during the day. If you’d love to join us, but our times just aren’t working for you, send us a message and we will see if we can arrange a schedule addition or change.
We are also a Judgement Free Zone and welcome people of all shapes, sizes and fitness levels.

Welcome to our page – we are really excited to share it with you! We hope that you will give it a Like and a Share. If this is something that is up your alley or if you want to take the leap into fitness, but are not sure where to start, let us help you! We are a judgement free zone and our success is based on your success.
To kick things off we would like to invite you to join us for our first group run/walk on Monday, Sept 26th at 9am with run/walk commencing at 9:15am sharp - meeting at Glennfield area of Fish Creek Park (just off Bannister Road S). Bring the strollers, bring the dog, toddlers on bikes etc. (you get the picture 😉) – No charge for this event, just a way to get to know one another - all fitness levels welcome.
