The age old saying - It takes a village! These 1st calvers are sharing the responsibilities amongst each other.

The heavens have opened up and we are so thankful for that. The machinery is parked at the end of the field and the crop is in for 2026! So grateful for the custom farming crew that treats the ranch like it is their own family fields staying up until 5:30 AM to get the crop in before the rain. Enjoy some well deserved down time Hirsche Farms and the entire crew from Nutrien.

The cattle have settled in nicely to the half way mark of the journey to the summer grounds, just in time for a much needed forecasted rain.

Calving season of 2026 is upon us! 3 weeks ago we took the opportunity to use some warm chinook weather to trail the heifers home from the winter feeding grounds and get them all settled in at home to calve. Friday this heifer decide to start it all off! Although sometimes the calves need a little extra help and I get a "houseguest" for the night this heifer did great. Time for sunshine and green grass and of course the baby calf "zoomies"!
