Olympic Oval The Olympic Oval was built as a long-track speed skating facility for the 1988 Calgary Olympic Winter Games.

Today, it is home to many speed skaters worldwide and the University of Calgary's Dinos!

September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. 🧡

Today, we honour the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, their families and their communities.

At the Olympic Oval, we recognize this day as one of reflection, learning and an ongoing commitment to reconciliation.

We encourage our community to wear orange, take time to listen and learn, and reflect on the history and lasting impacts of Canada’s residential school system.

The Olympic Oval will be open for public skating from 2–5 p.m.
