Small Group Sessions - Handstand & Mobility

Ask him about his classes. Hell, ask him for a workout…. If you’re open for some work and varying perspectives that is.

COLIN HOOD
Movement Coach

“Real progress isn’t about chasing the flashiest technique. It’s about refining the basics, shifting your perspective, and continuously asking “why?”
In my coaching, I aim to spark curiosity, so you don’t just move better—you learn to think about movement differently.
Because once you realize how underrated movement is in shaping your well-being, everything changes.”

Make Better Goals 08/16/2024

Not sure if people still see Facebook posts... but here are some thoughts from the past weeks.

Make Better Goals Over the past few weeks, the topic of goals and motivation have been the mainstay of a lot of my conversations. These are topics that have been kicked around for about as long as humans have been trying to make anything more complicated than pointy sticks. Yet despite our fascination with

Heads up for everyone. Will get an email out... but the city has an emergency repair happening in the area and the water main is off. They are hoping to be repaired by Wednesday, but no certainty on that.

Will keep you all posted.

Ascension: A Day on the Titanic 03/24/2023

The biggest issue with the Titanic was that the collective belief held that it couldn't sink. It was heralded as 'An Unsinkable Ship', and this narrative was so deeply believed that the attempts to evacuate the boat largely failed. It isn't that the Titanic was going to sink any slower or differently if people hadn't believed in its invulnerability, but the cost in human lives would have been far lower....

Ascension: Bored and Lonely 03/08/2023

The average smartphone owner unlocks their phone 180 times a day, and to be honest, I am often worse. That works out to being about once every six minutes. For me, this would start within a few minutes of getting out of bed (check messages, and then to use my Oura ring/app to 'log a meditation moment'), and then continues right up until the point that I head back to bed (turn on the robot bed and respond to any last messages)....

Ascension: You Know They Have You 03/02/2023

This one is mostly making fun of a mental tick that I think gets all of us. The classic thing where we think of something creative, or adventurous, or athletic we want to do... then promptly think about all the things we need to buy to be able to do it. Then just skip ever getting around to doing the thing.

Ascension: You Know They Have You 03/02/2023

You know that they have you, when the first thing that comes to mind when contemplating an adventure or an activity, is what you should buy. Let me know if this sounds familiar: This morning I was thinking about how badly I need to start spending at least one day a week back outside in the mountains. That could be touring, paragliding, trail running, or just sitting in the middle of nowhere....

Ascension: Disconnected: Part 2 03/01/2023

I tossed this up on my personal page, as I think it is a useful series of articles for anyone. However, it is also going here because it my rebuttal to the comments that I get when people don't tell me they have time to train, or to meal prep, or to really do much of anything. I would push back and ask the question of how much empty space is left in your day.

Ascension: Disconnected 02/26/2023

There is a tactile sensation of disconnection that comes with a phone for me. This could be a singular experience, perhaps a story I carry with me is set aside when the phone gets turned off. It is akin to having woken from sleep after days when one is exhausted and finally realizing how tired one had been. In this case it as if the weight of a million connections and threads has suddenly been taken away....

Ascension: Why So Busy? 02/26/2023

Being busy as a badge of honor is something we have collectively normalized. The claim that we are 'too busy' to do something is one of the most common refutations of almost anything that could come to mind. It is also an easy tack-on at the end of 'good' when responding to the question of how we are. For of course, we are 'good; busy...' This is the current condition we all claim to be; for whatever reason....

So this is evidently something we are doing.

More details to come this week.

Ascension: 08/19/2022

A few weeks ago I DNFd in a race for the first time in my life. It was, for me, the best possible outcome. I sent the following to a friend afterwards: "It ate me alive. I ran until I didn't want to... then did the next 1000m loop. Once both quads and calves had cramped, and my knee had blown up, and the Advil ran out......

Our Story

This is not a gym as you know it.

This is a testing lab for human performance, fueled by coffee and camaraderie. This is the land where we celebrate failure and learning. Where reps are counted in ‘zeros’. This is not just a group of people working out, but more a family; a tribe. If you are looking for a place that approaches injuries and training in an entirely different way, this may be the space for you.

Train with intention.

This is not a facility geared towards generic group classes, or bland and uninspired repetitive workouts. Rather, we offer a space that is coached, individualized, and focused on ensuring people are met where they are at with their individual histories and goals. We aim not only to teach those who come here, but to develop them into better versions of themselves, build their capacity, and uncover their potential.
