The Edmonton Lions Cup 2026 has come to an end, and once again we finished in 3rd place. Congratulations to Sinhalese Sports Club on becoming champions and Red deer united on finishing as runners up.
This tournament was extra special for us. Even though Calgary Vikings Sports Club decided not to enter a team, when we were short of players they didn’t hesitate to help us by sending their two big guns, Yapa and Arjuna.
We have been playing together in different capacities and practicing together so nothing seems strange. They were simply part of the team. Yapa finished the tournament as the highest run scorer, hit the most sixes and earned the highest MVP points, while Arjuna was named Best Fielder. They gave everything for the team, and we truly appreciate it.
We had a great run and lost the semifinal in a last ball thriller. Of course we wanted more, but we’ll take home the memories, the friendships and the great time we shared on and off the field.
A big thank you to Calgary Vikings for always having our backs.
Once again, thank you to Sajith Nalaka Abeysinghe , Kaushalya and family for being our sponsor, our manager and one of the biggest reasons this journey has been possible. Your support means a lot to all of us.
