For our debut episode, Datu takes on officiating in sports. With four decades as a martial arts instructor and experience judging competitions since the early 1990s, Datu Hartman will break down what it means to accept the responsibility of officiating, not just in martial arts, but in any sport.

Whether you're a volunteer or you're getting paid, once you accept the position, people are counting on you to know your job, take it seriously, and perform it to the best of your ability.

We'll use recent incidents involving WNBA officiating as a jumping-off point for a larger conversation: What happens when officials don't do their jobs well? What should athletes and coaches reasonably expect? And just how much responsibility comes with putting on that referee's shirt?
