Campbell River Badminton Club

A couple of weeks ago, the Campbell River Badminton Club sadly lost one of its long-time members, Zhuliang (Richard) Wu.

For those that knew him, Richard played the sport with positive energy and contagious enthusiasm. He will be remembered for his uplifting spirit and he will be sadly missed🏸

The club opened up registration for our annual badminton tournament (now renamed Cindy Simpson Memorial Badminton Tournament) on November 15.

Registration is now filled (100 participants). The one day to fill is a record for the tournament. For those wishing to be on a waiting list, please email us at :

The Campbell River Badminton Club management has begun a process of renewing and revamping its outreach to the local badminton community.

We feel our page needs to be part of the renewal. Unfortunately, it has been long neglected rarely updated. Part of the problem comes from the multitude of followers (over 3,000) accumulated, many of them with no connection to the club, or even to badminton.

We have begun the process of removing almost all followers (unfortunately Facebook only allows us to ban & not just remove). If you would like to continue to follow the Club, please indicate so through the club email and we will unban you).

If you are a current member of the club and a follower of this page, then you don't need to do anything.

A tribute to Cindy Simpson🏸

The Campbell River Badminton Club was founded by Cindy. The club continues to thrive thanks to her enthusiasm and dedication spending many hours coordinating and hosting events. She loved the game and the friendships she made through sport❤️ She shared her enthusiasm for badminton locally, provincially and nationally attending the Canadian Masters Championships many times and hosting them here in Campbell River in 2006🇨🇦 Cindy’s spirit and oversized contributions to badminton have left a lasting mark on the club🏸 Thank you Cindy for everything you have given to the badminton community❤️🏸
