Reminder to all stallion owners that payments are due for the Maritime Breeders Stake this Friday, May 15th. Payments can be sent via e-transfer to [email protected] or by cheque made payable to the Maritime Breeders Association. Details on payment and the Stallion Contract are available at www.peiharnessracing.ca under the 'Forms' tab.

The Maritime Breeders Association wishes to advise all Maritime stallion owners who have submitted stallion contracts for the 2026 breeding season that stallion fees are due May 15, 2026. The required payment is $1,000 or the current stud fee, whichever amount is higher. Payments may be remitted by cheque to the Maritime Breeders Association or via e-transfer to [email protected]. For assistance regarding your payment, please contact Julie Jamieson at 902-569-1682.

Maritime Stallions – PEI Harness Racing Assocation 02/11/2026

The PEI Harness Racing Industry Association in partnership with the Maritime Breeders Association are pleased to announce the release of the 2026 Maritime Breeders Association Stallion Directory.

The directory features interactive links that allow the user to view each stallion’s pedigree page and access Standardbred Canada’s Virtual Mating software to see how their broodmare crosses with each stallion.

Stallions showcased in the directory will be standing in the Maritimes for the 2026 breeding season and their foals will be eligible to be nominated to Home Hardware Maritime Breeders Stake in 2028.

The PEI Harness Racing Industry Association would like to remind all maritime horse owners of the upcoming deadline for 3-year-old stake payments, which is February 15th. Maritime Breeders Association Stallion Contract – PEI Harness Racing Industry Association 12/19/2025

Stallion contracts for the 2026 breeding season for the Home Hardware Maritime Breeders Stake are now being accepted.

The Maritime Breeders Association is now accepting contracts from stallion owners for the 2026 breeding season. The fee to become a member of the Maritime Breeders Association and have yearlings from your stallion eligible for nomination to the Home Hardware Maritime Breeders Stake in 2028 is $1,000 or one full stud fee, whichever is the greater of the two per stallion. There is no HST on stud fees for this program.

***Please be advised that the new date for stallion contracts to be submitted is before January 31st, 2026***. Stallion fees are due by May 15, 2026. For a stallion’s offspring to remain eligible for the stakes, the stallion owner(s) must submit a payment for each year that the stallion has bred mares, and the stallion must stand their entire breeding season in one of the Maritime provinces.

The contract can be completed and submitted online at the link below or by contacting [email protected] to receive a hard copy of the form emailed.

The PEIHRIA had begun paying out the Maritime Breeders Awards. Due to the Canada Post strike, it is strongly recommended that you receive your payment by direct deposit or pick up your cheque at the PEIHRIA office. Please contact Julie Jamieson at 902-569-1682 to arrange a date and time for pick up or to obtain the form for direct deposit.

The Maritime Breeders Association would like to congratulate the winning connections of the Home Hardware Maritime Breeders Stakes for 3-Year-Old Pacing C**ts and Fillies held on Saturday evening, October 26th at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Miss Dutton won the first 3 YO Pacing Filly Division in 1:56.3 for trainer Kuri White, driver Adam Merner, and owner Shoulda Been Onabeach Stables of Charlottetown PE. The filly was bred by David Tierney of Cornwall PE and Mitch Tierney of Guelph ON.

Downtown Tonight won the second 3 YO Pacing Filly Division in 1:56 for trainer Tom Weatherbie, driver Adam Merner, and owners Cam MacPhee of Charlottetown PE and Gordon MacPhee of Stratford PE. The filly was bred by Cam MacPhee of Charlottetown PE.

Jackies Boy won the first 3 YO Pacing C**t Division in 1:55.1 for driver Myles Heffernan Sr. and trainer Myles Heffernan Jr. of Montague PE, who is also the owner and breeder of the gelding.

Galway Girl captured the final 3 YO Pacing Filly Division in 1:56.2 for trainer Brent Campbell, driver Marc Campbell, and owners Brady Doyle of Stratford PE, Kent MacDonald of Stratford PE, Bernard MacDonald of Mount Stewart PE, and Jacinta Campbell of Charlottetown PE. The fill was bred by Burkie By The Bay Stables of Brackley PE.

Merigo Magic won the final Maritime Breeders Stake of the night in 1:54.3 for trainer/driver Adam Merner and owners Mike May of Charlottetown PE, Herman Mcquaid of Charlottetown PE, Derrick Cameron of Charlottetown PE, and Ian Walker of Mermaid PE. The gelding was bred by Barry Martin of Sydney NS, and Ruben Martin of Sydney NS.

One Can Dan won the second 2 YO Pacing C**t division in a time of 1:58.2 for trainer Lennan MacIsaac and driver Redmond Doucet of Inverness NS, who also owns the c**t himself. The c**t was bred by Michael Clarey of Montague PE.

Malevolent won the third and final 2 YO Pacing C**t division in 1:54.3 for trainer/driver Paul Langille and owners Debbie Francis of Sweets Corner NS, and Rosanne Langille of Lower Onslow NS. The gelding was bred by Gary MacPherson of North Wiltshire PE.

Howmac Charger won the first 2 YO Pacing Filly division in 2:00.2 for trainer Paul Conway and driver Corey MacPherson. Paul Conway of Bonshaw PE and Zach Conway of Charlottetown PE co-own the filly. She was bred by Howmac Farms of Brookfield PE.

Never Shui Never won the final Maritime Breeders Stake event of the afternoon capturing the second 2 YO Pacing Filly division in 1:58 for trainer/driver Gilles Barrieau and owner Nikway Farms of St. Davids NL. The filly was bred by Greg MacKenzie of Scotsburn NS.

The Maritime Breeders Association would like to congratulate the winning connections of the Home Hardware Maritime Breeders Stakes for 2 and 3 Year Old Trot Fillies and C**ts held last night at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Dusty Lane Wee captured the 3 YO Trot Filly division in a time of 2:01.2 for trainer Lenny Myers, driver Marc Campbell, and owners Garry MacDonald of Dundas ON and Ronnie Gass of Cornwall PE. Ronnie Gass is also the breeder.

Oceanview Nikki established a new track record for 2 YO Trot fillies capturing her division in 1:59.3 for trainer/driver Mike McGuigan and owners Blue Diamond Racing of Emyvale PE and Josh MacDonald of Little Pond PE.

West River Jet won the 2 YO Trot C**t division in 2:00.4 for trainer Clare MacDonald, driver, Kenny MacDonald, and owner Hayley MacDonald of Stratford PE. The c**t was bred by Wayne Burley of Truro NS, Clare Macdonald of Antigonish NS, and Gary Burley of Truro NS.

Dusty Lane Darby won the 3 YO trot C**t divison in 2:00.2 for trainer/driver Adam Merner and owners Herman McQuaid of Charlottetown PE and Jared Perrot of Stratford PE. The c**t was bred by Ronnie Gass of Cornwall PE.

Tune in on Saturday, October 26th, post time 12:30 pm for the Home Hardware Maritime Breeders Stake 2 YO Filly and C**t divisions and post time 6 pm for the Home Hardware Maritime Breeders Stake 3 YO Filly and C**t divisions at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
