Pleased to announce that I've officially completed the L.E.G.S. Applied Ethology Family Dog Mediation course, and I'm now a Certified Family Dog Mediator!🥳 I am currently one of only two professionals on PEI to hold this certification (the other is of course my brilliant mentor and friend, Shannon Noonan CPDT-KA FDM )

This was such a great course and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to learn more about approaching and understanding canine behavior through an etiologocal lens. Kim Brophy is a powerhouse of knowledge and I am so grateful to her for creating this program.

Tuesday musings.

Dogs want to get it right. Their lives are easier when they understand the human rules. It is our job and responsibility to teach them kindly, consistently, and gently how to be dogs in a human world.

It is also important that we take the time to learn their communications and body language to make sure we are fully meeting their needs and making sure they feel safe.

It was so nice to meet up the other night with these fine pet professionals for some drinks and some laughs. Next time hopefully we will be able to add a few more chairs to the table for those who couldn’t make it.

Bad Dog graduated from puppy class with honors (I made that last part up) a few weeks ago, so now he's allowed on the furniture

(Jk he was always allowed on the furniture)

We didn't all go to Gudger College 🙄 but Karen Pryor Academy is pretty ok too!

KPA's Dog Training Foundations course is a super fun and comprehensive intro to clicker training! They cover alllll the things (Event markers! Targeting! Shaping! Canine body language! Operant and classical conditioning!) with lots of opportunities to practice clicker skills. I super enjoyed working through the course with the help of Mack and Hamish 🐶 10/10 highly recommend
