This week Coach Bailey shares a few of the many benefits of strength training.
At Ascend Fitness, we build our workouts so they strengthen the muscles for a full-body workout. Strength training is so important, especially as we age.
Here are some of the key benefits of strength training:
💪🏻 It changes your body composition. Cardio has a lot of fantastic benefits, but cardio alone will not change the shape of your body. Strength training, allows you to tone your muscles and have a leaner, more defined look.
💪🏻 Strength training boosts your metabolism. When you increase your muscle mass your resting metabolism also increases. This means your body will burn more calories even while sitting or sleeping.
💪🏻 Strength training will help you climb stairs, carry groceries, and generally allow you to maintain stamina and function when taking on everyday tasks and unexpected challenges.
💪🏻 Strength training not only leads to you being stronger but also increases bone density. This in turn reduces the risk of bone fracture which becomes especially important as we age.
💪🏻 The full range of movement promoted by strength training can also help joints stay flexible as we age, which can help combat symptoms of arthritis.
These are just a few of the many powerful reasons to consider adding strength training to your fitness routine.
