OWL Rafting

OWL Rafting World-class food, rafting & whitewater. Just 90 minutes west of Ottawa!
(704)

We are family-owned and operated, beginning with our founders Hermann and Christa Kerckhoff in 1981. The Kerckhoff’s immigrated to Canada in the late ’50s and fell in love with Canadian rivers. Hermann and his daughter, Claudia, were the first kayakers to descend the Ottawa River; encountering a prime location for rafting. Today, the company is thriving as world-class whitewater destination thanks to their current owners, Claudia and Dirk Van Wijk. The third generation is quickly becoming more involved as well, with Stefani Van Wijk as Director of our sister company, Madawaska Kanu Centre, and Katrina leading the graphic design.

Thank you to all of the folks who took part in the annual river clean up today. Each Labour Day our volunteer team paddles the river and clean up the shorelines of the Ottawa River.

We truly appreciate you for coming out and leaving the river a better place.

Every rafting trip has whitewater, splashes, big laughs and a little bit of adrenaline… but here are 5 of the best unexpected parts of a day of rafting at OWL.

# 1 The food at the end
After a full day on the river, everything tastes better — especially when lunch is freshly grilled and served aboard a pontoon boat cruise back to the OWL Resort. Kick back, refuel, swap stories from the day and enjoy the river from a whole different perspective.

# 2 How good it feels to leave your phone behind
A river trip gives you something we don’t always get enough of: uninterrupted time together. Phones are tucked away, everyday distractions disappear, and suddenly you’re paddling, laughing, cheering each other on and creating stories you’ll probably be telling for years.

# 3 The scenery — and the wildlife
The rapids might get most of the attention, but there is so much to see in between. Forested shorelines, rocky outcrops, wide-open stretches of the Ottawa River and the chance to spot wildlife along the way all add to the experience.

# 4 The OWL Resort is waiting for you
The adventure doesn’t have to end when you step out of the raft. Back at OWL, you can relax on the sandy beach, go for a swim, grab a drink or snack, play a game, or simply find a spot by the water and enjoy being outside a little longer.

# 5 The feeling afterwards
You finish the day a little tired, probably a little wet, and with that unmistakable post-adventure glow. There’s something pretty great about looking back at what you just did together — the rapids you conquered, the laughs along the way and the moments you didn’t expect to become your favourites.

The whitewater might be why you book the trip… but sometimes it’s everything around it that makes the day unforgettable and the reason you'll be back year after year.

There are two more weeks of rafting for the 2026 season!

That’s two more weeks of cliff jumping.
Two weeks to surf the rapids.
A fortnight to learn what a thunder dunk is.
Two more weeks of rafting!
Our last day this season is Tuesday September 8th!

There’s still time to challenge the waves of the mighty Ottawa River before the end of the 2026 season.

We’ll see you on the river!
