🐴❤️ WHAT AN INCREDIBLE TWO DAYS AT THE WARKWORTH FAIR! ❤️🐴

For the last two days, PGF Equine & Safe Haven Sanctuary was honoured to be a part of our hometown Warkworth Fair!

Our animals were on their absolute best behaviour, brightening the faces of curious children and bringing just as many smiles to the adults. 🐴🐐🐓🐰

We had well over 350 people stop by to visit the PGF crew, and seeing so many people leave with smiles, stories and special memories made every bit of work worthwhile. We even had families and kids coming back for repeat visits because they just couldn’t get enough of our animals! ❤️

A HUGE thank you to our amazing volunteers Emily, Aislynn, Finleigh, Sydney and Lily. You stepped up, interacted with everyone and helped make these two days exciting and memorable for so many people. We couldn’t have done it without you!

And last, but certainly not least — Farmer. ❤️

You pulled it off once again! From building pens for the animals, helping me transform our area into our own little outdoor barn, hauling animals, setting everything up and making sure we had everything we needed to be successful — you were there every step of the way. Without you, I truly couldn’t have done it.

And to every single child — and quite a few adults 😉 — who held, cuddled, petted and loved on the PGF crew, our animals are very grateful for all those wonderful scratches and snuggles!

Thank you Warkworth Fair and our wonderful community for welcoming PGF Equine & Safe Haven Sanctuary. Being able to share our animals with our hometown and watch them bring so much happiness to others is exactly what Safe Haven is all about. ❤️🐴

Over 350 visitors. Countless smiles. Two incredible days. Memories we won’t soon forget.

Until next year, Warkworth! ❤️

We truly have the BEST Team here at PGF. ❤️🐴

Our parents are stepping back and teaching these kids one of the most important lessons — you have to work to play. Nothing is just handed to them. They learn that caring for their horses, helping around the barn, putting in the late nights and showing up for the early mornings are all part of earning those moments in the arena.

Our Team kids cheer each other on, celebrate each other’s accomplishments and pick each other up when a run doesn’t go as planned. The parents and grandparents are standing on the sidelines smiling ear to ear, no matter what the clock says or where they place.

Because at the end of the day, if the horse and rider come out of that arena safe, that’s the biggest WIN of all. ❤️

These kids take so much pride in their horses. They share the duties, help one another, put in the work and are learning that being part of a Team means so much more than winning a ribbon, cheque or buckle.

We are beyond blessed with the riders, horses, parents and grandparents who make up TEAM PGF. 🐴❤️

Work hard. Stay humble. Cheer louder for your teammates. Take care of your horse. And never forget why you started.

Youth competition starts going sideways when it becomes more about the parent than the kid competing.

Parents should absolutely be invested. Spend the money, haul the miles, help them prepare, hold them accountable and give them opportunities.

But the kids need some skin in the game too.

If they’re old enough to compete, they’re old enough to have age-appropriate responsibility for the horse that gets them there. Feeding, watering, cleaning stalls, filling hay nets, grooming, packing their stuff, helping load and unload — whatever fits their age and ability.

Parents doing absolutely everything while the kid shows up to ride misses a huge part of what horses and competition are supposed to teach.

And once we get to the show, the focal point should still be the kids and the horses.

Their run. Their nerves. Their goals. Their disappointment. Their excitement. Their lessons to learn.

A bad run shouldn’t turn into a parent being visibly angry, embarrassed or storming off because the outcome wasn’t what they wanted. A good run shouldn’t become more about what the parent did to make it happen than what the kid and horse accomplished.

Sometimes the most important job a parent has is knowing when to help — and when to step back.

Let them work for it. Let them take care of their horse. Let them learn how to win without becoming entitled to it. Let them learn how to lose without falling apart. Let them make mistakes, process them and come back better.

Because the ribbons and checks are great, but raising capable, responsible horsemen and women should be the bigger goal.

Where do you think the line is between supporting a young competitor and doing too much for them?

🐴✨ WOW — what an incredible honour! ✨🐴

We are so excited and incredibly grateful that people in our community feel PGF Equine is worthy of being nominated for a Canadian Choice Award in the Equestrian Facility category! 🇨🇦🏆

To even have someone take the time to nominate our facility means more than we can put into words. What started with a love for horses has grown into an amazing barn family, a competitive team, a place for kids to learn and grow, and a community we are so proud of.

We pour our hearts into our horses, our riders and everything we do here at PGF Equine, so knowing that others see and appreciate that is pretty special. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who supports us, trusts us with their horses and kids, cheers on Team PGF, and continues to be part of our journey.

Just being nominated is something we are incredibly proud of! 🥹🐴🇨🇦

PGF Equine — this one is because of ALL of you! ❤️🏆

🐴❤️ A DIFFERENT PACE FOR TEAM PGF TODAY ❤️🐴

Today our crew headed to NBHA D4 at CRF, and while the facility was absolutely incredible, it was a different setup than what a few of our girls are used to. A couple of the girls have competed in this arena before and knew what to expect, but for five of our girls, this was their very first time at CRF.

It was a great reminder that not every barrel pen is the same. Different arenas, different setups, and different atmospheres require riders to adjust. Some settled in quickly, while others had to work through nerves, overthinking, and the challenge of unfamiliar surroundings.

That’s all part of becoming a stronger, more versatile rider — learning to walk into any pen, adjust, and give your horse the best ride you can.

Each girl faced a different challenge today. Some were only at their first or second show with a new horse, while others simply had to figure out how to ride a different pen than what they were comfortable with.

There were some hiccups along the way, but what stood out the most was how our girls handled them.

Every single one came out smiling, praised their horse, and stayed humble. A few agreed — today was tough! But there were no excuses and no blaming their horses. Just recognizing what they need to work on, learning from it, and moving forward. ❤️

🤰🐴 And speaking of dedication…

Just FOUR days from her due date, Coach Cierra made a surprise appearance to help out her girls!

You don’t find too many coaches as dedicated to their students as Cierra. Even this close to welcoming Kelly-James, she wanted to be there supporting, encouraging, and helping her girls through their runs. That says a lot about the relationship she has built with Team PGF. ❤️

🌟🐴 TODAY’S SPOTLIGHT — MISS ANNABELLE & MAGGIE 🐴🌟

Today’s spotlight goes to Annabelle and Maggie for showing us that sometimes the best run of the day has absolutely nothing to do with the clock.

This was Annabelle’s very first show with Maggie, and Maggie is definitely NOT a barrel horse. 😂 Maggie was pretty convinced she had landed in the Twilight Zone and wasn’t quite sure what everyone expected her to do!

Through two expos and their first run, Maggie made it pretty clear she wasn’t having any part of this barrel racing business.

But Annabelle never got frustrated and never pushed her.

She stayed calm, quiet, and gentle, reassuring Maggie that she was safe and that everything was okay.

A little treat, a big hug, and some reassurance later, Annabelle asked her for one more try in Green as Grass. ❤️

And they did it!

Maggie and Miss Annabelle put together a beautiful, clean, pretty run. 🥹🐴

Was it a record breaker? Nope — and that was never the goal.

The goal was to build Maggie’s confidence, let her know the arena was a safe place, and show her that she could trust the little girl sitting on her back.

Today Annabelle showed patience, compassion, and true horsemanship. Sometimes knowing when to slow down, reassure your horse, and celebrate the smallest victory is worth more than what time the clock stops .

Congratulations, Annabelle & Maggie! ❤️

Today you didn’t chase the clock — you built trust. And that is a win worth celebrating. 🌟

👏 A huge congratulations to our Team PGF girls who landed in the money or just shy of the money with their fantastic performances today!

Whether today brought a great run, a learning experience, a new partnership, or a challenge to overcome, we are so proud of each and every member of TEAM PGF.

And of course, after a tough day for some, McDonald’s was required to soothe the spirits — must be a teenage girl thing! 😂🍟

Everyone left smiling, horses praised and loved on, lessons learned, and minds reset.

Now we are ready to switch gears and get BACK TO RODEO NEXT SUNDAY! 🤠🔥

Keep chasing your dreams, ladies. The wins are great, but sometimes the tough days teach you the most.

Tough days teach. Good riders adjust. Great horsewomen put their horses first.

❤️🐴 So proud of each and every one of TEAM PGF! 🐴❤️
