This September, we start something big. Season 20 is here.

19 years ago, it was just one teacher and 40 students in a one room studio with no windows. Now we have two studios, 9 certified dance educators, and dancers from age 18 months all the way to adult.

Some things never change though. Every dancer who walks through our doors still gets the same thing: real training, real confidence, and a place where they belong.

This is it. September starts tomorrow and this is our 20th Anniversary Season.

Spotlight Week is behind us now, and I've spent the days since just quietly amazed.
Solos. Duets. Trios. There's nowhere to hide in those, just you, maybe one or two dancers beside you, and everything you've worked for.
So much happened in that room this week. Growth I didn't expect to see yet. Confidence that wasn't there a month ago. I watched something happen in our Spotlight Dancers that only shows up when the spotlight is that small and that bright. I'm so proud of every one of them.
One more season starts in a week. I can't wait to see where they take it.

Our Company Dancers are wrapping up a full week of training, choreography, and connection as we build this season's competition routines. Twenty seasons in, and what strikes us every single year is how much these dancers grow together, not just as performers but as a team. Long rehearsals, new choreography, a few tired legs, and a whole lot of heart. That's what this week looked like.

This is what the Company Dancer Program is all about. Real training, real dedication, and a group of dancers who show up for each other class after class.

Today our Company dancers head into Choreo and Connection Camp.
This is one of my favourite weeks of the entire year. The work that gets done in five days together is something you cannot replicate any other way. I cannot wait to watch this group go.

September is three weeks away and our fall programs are filling up fast.

Our Prima Star Dance program is where so many of our long-time dancers got their start. It is gentle, joyful, and builds way more than dance skills. Spots for fall are filling up. I would love to save one for your little one.

Miss Christiana has been part of CSD since she started as a student here in 2007.
She came through our Company Dancer, Class Assistant and Teacher Training programs and now she stands in front of the room teaching the next generation of CSD dancers. That is not something that happens by accident. It is something we work really hard at.
Watching our own graduates become the teachers that shape the kids coming up behind them - that is one of the things I am most proud of in 20 years of running this studio.

People ask me sometimes if competitive dance puts too much pressure on kids. I understand the question.
But what I have watched our Company dancers develop - resilience, the ability to take a critique and come back stronger, real discipline - those are life skills. The trophies are nice. That other stuff is what really matters.
