15 years ago or more, I helped a customer build a wood bodied car speedster on a model A frame in my shop in Port Moody. John Black, the owner passed away last year, but just before his passing, he donated the car to the Gilmore Car Museum in Michigan. During the 2024 model A days, the car was featured in a video. Attention US Customers

As much as I value my American customers, I am a small business and the new rules around de - minimis shipments to the USA create a lot of extra work and cost to me and to you in brokerage fees and paperwork. So until the rules change, I will not be shipping any orders to the US. I have changed the countries that I will ship to on my web store. Any orders that somehow come through will just be refunded.

Thanks to a friend, I was put onto a shipping portal that gives great rates on UPS, CanPar, Purolator and others. So now most orders on my web store will be shipped via courier right to your door. Only small packages will go out with Canada Post.

Customer in Yellowknife did a nice job restoring his canvas canoe with materials I sent.

Well, here we go again. Looks like Canada Post will be on strike again soon. This means that I will have to shut down shipping options on my web store as shipping by UPS is just too expensive. But you can still order if you are local and can pick it up. Any items ordered have been shipped, but I have no control over whether they may be stuck in a postal depot.

The first half of Lydia Brown's canoe almost done. The feature strips will go on this week and we have begun to fill the second half. This will be the third canoe that Lydia has worked on and I am helping to teach her a few tricks and increase her skills. Check out on Instagram to see her work and her contact info.

Work continues on the indigenous canoe. We are adding a feature strip to add some bling. Hundreds of small pieces to make up two strips. Hopefully they will go on the hull today.

I am working on an Indigenous canoe single with a new builder. Mike Billy of Squamish nation designed it, then we redrew it on the lofting floor to clean up the lines. With the table of offsets, I was able to put them into the computer and clean the plans up even further and print out the forms. With them set up on the strongback, we are ready to plank the boat.

Next year I think I need a sign at my boat show booth.

Of the 40 or so hours I stood in the booth, I must have spent at least 2 of those hours waiting for someone to find the photo on their phone that they really need to show me of their boat.

My daughter is looking to sell her kids kayak that she and I built together years ago. It is the Kidyak skin on frame design by Gentry Boats. It was a fun project that we did together when she was 8 years old and now she is 19. Suitable for a child up to 90 lbs. Has new paint and price is $300, which is basically the cost of materials. It will also be at the Boat Show next week.
