I’m grateful to live in the beautiful Comox Valley, on the Traditional Unceded Territory of the K’ómoks First Nation, which includes the Pentlatch, E’iksan, Komoks and Sathloot Tribes.

The valley is a place filled with amazing natural landscapes, abundant waterways, and long stretches of sandy beach and coastal rainforest.

It’s with deep respect for the natural environment upon which we depend, and the people who steward it, that we teach swimming as a lifesaving skill for those who live close to the water. 🌊

Water activities are meant to be fun, but they come with serious risks. Nearly two-thirds of drowning deaths occur during recreational activities like swimming and boating.

Learning to swim reduces the risk of drowning by 88% for children ages 1-4 and is a vital skill for people of all ages. It improves water safety awareness and provides the ability to respond to emergencies, making it a key factor in drowning prevention.
