Just wrapped up talking to media following Marco Mendicino’s disappointing press conference where he reintroduced the 20 year-old long-gun registry boondoggle and yet again failed to tackle the real cause of gun violence in Canada: criminals, gang activity, and gun smuggling.
A gun registry regime only impacts law-abiding citizens. Criminals already own guns illegally and don’t care about bans, buy-backs or registries. Today, criminals were let off the hook and Canadians were sold a false bill of goods that this will reduce gun violence. It won’t.
Meanwhile, Justice committee is reviewing the Liberal’s Bill C-5 that removes mandatory jail time for violent criminals who commit serious and deadly offences with guns. Here’s the list of those offences:

Rather than spending billions on buy-backs and bans, the Liberals should get serious & redirect the resources to: border security to stop gun smuggling from the US, police guns and gangs units, and to community organizations that provide programming to divert youth from joining gangs.

Just heard the very sad news about Jordan Karst.
If you’ve shot steel challenge or 3 gun in or around Calgary chances are you came across Jordan at one of those matches. Jordan was my (Nik) first ever Range Officer at my first steel challenge match. He was super patient with a brand new shooter, let me try his fi****ms and didn’t care it took me more than a mag to hit 5 steel targets.
He was a super nice guy who could talk for days about fi****ms, technique and give great advice.
The calgary shooting leagues have taken a big loss.
We’re sending our deepest sympathies to his friends and family especially his wife and daughter.
