West Coast Water Sports

It’s always a sad time of the year when we wrap up for another year, and pack up all the equipment. This was another great year with lots of fun experiences, smiles and laughs.

This small business that I have grown over the last 8 years has been such a big part of my life and identity. We have made it our goal to help and serve everyone with a smile and do our best to make their experience a fantastic one.
We started off renting paddling equipment and have expanded to offer kids camp and have host hundreds of kids over the years. It really has turned into a great business.

So great, that someone else wants to do exactly what I have been doing. The organization operating Comox Lake Campgrounds have chosen to not extend my operating contract so they can open up their own rental operation and expand their own camp program. So that means that they are giving me the boot and going to open up their own rentals and do exactly what I have been doing over the last 8 years.

Clearly this is something that I am upset about and feel like a part of me has been stolen from someone else. I am choosing to be bigger than that and I look at this situation as a chance to grow and improve myself and my professional career. I am greatful for the last 8 years and all the people I have met and the experiences that I have had.

Maybe next year we will provide mobile rentals, concentrate and expand our kids camp program, mobile kids camp or even go into something completely different. Or who knows, maybe I’ll just stick to my primary job of fixing aircraft. But my entrepreneurial spirit will always be alive and strong for me so we will have to wait and see how everything unfolds and what great idea I will be chasing next.

I have learned lots over the past 8 years about what it takes to run, operate, manage and create a business from scratch. This experience has been a great learning opportunity and it has helped me grow as a person. I am proud of what I have created and it will always have a special place in my heart.

For anyone who has supported my business over the years I truly appreciate it and am so greatful for each and every one of you. Thank you for making West Coast Water Sports such a great and wonderful part of my life.
