It was an exciting weekend of bowls as the first of our two Club Singles and Club Novice Singles Championship weekends hit the greens! For the Men’s Singles this weekend, we had a great field of players of all experience levels battling it out. Both finals went right to the wire with extra games forced in each division’s double knockout bracket.

In the Men’s Club Singles Final, congratulations to Steve Ogden defended his title for another season with a 1.5 sets win (5-5, 12-1) over Rick Burrows in the extra match playoff. Steve’s win marks only the second time where a Men’s Club Champion has won the title in three back to back seasons (since Lou Jessome won in 1989 through 1991)- not an easy feat in a club with the talent and experience throughout our membership.

In the Men’s Novice Club Singles Final, congratulations to Lowell Goulden who won his first singles championship title with a thrilling tiebreaker win over his friend and teammate Alan Weinberger. After winning the first set 5-4, Alan fought back to win 6-5 to force a tiebreaker. In the tiebreaker, Lowell got over the line with some awesome draw shot play to take out the title.

Thanks to our Match Chair Debby Purdy for organizing, the markers, the umpires, the crew who brought snacks and everyone in between. Stay tuned as we have another action packed weekend for the Women’s Singles coming up next weekend!

What a fun day at the club this morning as we had our annual Labour Day “Champs” Fun Day! We had six rinks of action today- with 6 rinks of triples and one rink of fours (and additional players who jumped in for half games of action).

Congrats to John Driscoll, Richard Cobb and Maureen Myers- who won this year’s title with a +14 win on the day. Great bowls across all the rinks- the competition was fierce all throughout the day.

Thanks to Shawn MacPhee and her team in the kitchen for organizing the awesome barbeque meal and to everyone who brought in donations. It made for an awesome day around the greens!

Good luck to Team Nova Scotia as they go for Gold in the Women’s Fours later today in North Vancouver!

Breaking News! Congratulations to our Women’s Fours Team Nova Scotia (Tammy Foster-Veinot, Jackie Foster, Vicki Balcom and Mary Wright) who have clinched 1st place and a spot in the Gold Medal Game.
The Bluenose team battled their way to an 18-5 win over Manitoba to book their ticket to the final at 7:15pm Atlantic. In that match, they’ll face Team Alberta (Joanna Cooper, Jennifer MacDonald, Teryn Mitchell and Kiera Schaelow) for the National title. Good luck Team Nova Scotia- we’ll be cheering for you all the way! The medal rounds are streamed via Island Bowls Live- so should be some great games to watch (haven’t confirmed who will be on stream as of yet).
Special congratulations as well to our Women’s Pairs duo of Debbie Tower and Debbie Mitchell who wrapped up their competition in North Vancouver finishing up at 3-4 in their event. Well done to you both!

Should be some great games tomorrow at the club as the playoffs for the Memorial Mixed Triples hit the greens! If you’re in the area, make sure to get down to the club to cheer on the teams in the big games. If today was any indication, you’ll be in for a show!

The 2026 Memorial Mixed Triples has reached the playoff stage, and the action continues tomorrow morning (Sunday August 16th) at the Dartmouth Lawn Bowls Club!

Come out and cheer on the teams as they battle for the Championship and Consolation titles! Semifinals hit the green at 9:00am before the Finals at 11:30am.

With some great matchups set, there’s plenty of reason to grab a chair, bring your friends, and cheer on the bowlers! Come on out and watch the action, support the players, and help make the Memorial Mixed Triples playoffs a great day of lawn bowls!

Should be an exciting weekend of lawn bowls action at the club as we host the Lawn Bowls Nova Scotia Memorial Mixed Triples! 7 great teams battling it out for top honours. Play begins on Saturday morning at 9am- so make sure to get down to the club to cheer on the teams!

The stage is set for the Memorial Mixed Triples, with play getting underway Saturday, August 15th at the Dartmouth Lawn Bowls Club (2 Mount Hope Avenue in Dartmouth).

The competition will feature 7 top teams from across our member clubs battling it out for top honours and their share of the prize money in our LBNS Provincial tournament for Mixed Triples.

Action kicks off at 9:00am on Saturday with two more rounds following at 11:30am and 2:00pm to close out round robin play before flight playoffs on Sunday at 9:00am for semifinals and 11:30am for the Finals. Each game is expected to be 14 ends of exciting two bowl triples action- so lots of great bowls!

If you’re in the area, make sure to get down to the Dartmouth Lawn Bowls Club to watch the games and cheer on the teams for what should be an awesome event. Good luck to all teams, and we look forward to a great weekend of bowls!

As part of our Natal Day celebrations, we had two special presentations to members for special achievements in the sport. Congratulations to Sterling Levy- who was honoured with his Bowls Canada Boulingrin 25 Year Pin in recognition of his longterm membership in the sport. Sterling has been a longstanding supporter of the club- helping run many jitneys over the years and assisting in match endeavours in addition to bowling in his own right. Also, congrats to Ann Marie Siteman, Debby Purdy and Carolyn Reeves who were recognized for winning the 2026 Nova Scotia Senior Women’s Triples (including Debby and Carolyn receiving their provincial champions pin).
