As part of our Natal Day celebrations, we had two special presentations to members for special achievements in the sport. Congratulations to Sterling Levy- who was honoured with his Bowls Canada Boulingrin 25 Year Pin in recognition of his longterm membership in the sport. Sterling has been a longstanding supporter of the club- helping run many jitneys over the years and assisting in match endeavours in addition to bowling in his own right. Also, congrats to Ann Marie Siteman, Debby Purdy and Carolyn Reeves who were recognized for winning the 2026 Nova Scotia Senior Women’s Triples (including Debby and Carolyn receiving their provincial champions pin).

What an awesome Natal Day celebration that we had at the club on Monday! In celebration of our city’s birthday and the 39th birthday of the club, we had a great day on the greens with about 60 bowlers and guests enjoying an awesome day of bowls and a picnic lunch of sandwiches and ice cream sundaes. Congrats to John Siteman, Richard Cobb and Carmen Kerr on winning this year’s trophy. Thanks to everyone who helped put on the celebration.

Congrats all! Special congrats to our Dartmouth members Debbie, Debbie, Heather and Mayumi that will represent Nova Scotia in Montreal!
It was a exciting weekend of bowls at the St. Mary’s Lawn Bowls Club as the road to Quebec and the 2026 Atlantic Bowls began with our Atlantic Pairs Trials.
In the Women’s event, it was the Dartmouth duo of Debbie Tower and Debbie Mitchell who won the A spot- defeating their clubmates Mayumi Endo and Heather Salmon 14-5 in the A Final. Debbie and Debbie will have lots to look forward to over the next month with also representing Nova Scotia at the 2026 Canadians in North Vancouver. In the B Final, Endo and Salmon rebounded from their A Finals loss to defeat their clubmates Ann Marie Siteman and Vicki Balcom 18-12 to book their spot to Montreal.
In the Men’s event, it was the Wanderers duo of Ian MacDonald and Jim Granville who swept the round robin event to book their ticket as Nova Scotia A in Montreal with wins 15-8 and 13-12. In the B Qualifying Playoff, it was the St. Mary’s duo of Milton Graves and Peter Boudreau who defeated Greg Heatherington and Kevin Stewart to book their spot headed to Atlantic Bowls. It will be a debut as a Nova Scotia rep for Milton as well as a return to the Atlantic Bowls for Peter (having previously represented at the 2023 Atlantic Bowls in PEI).
Thanks to everyone who helped make the Pairs Trials a success- especially our host club, the St. Mary’s Lawn Bowls Club, LBNS Chief Umpire Joan MacDonald and all the volunteers who helped put it on. The road to Quebec continues next weekend with the Atlantic Triples Trials at Wanderers- so make sure you get your entries in ASAP as the deadline is today!

In Halifax, we had a bunch of our members successful in the Wanderers Open Pairs! Congrats to our own Steve Ogden and Vicki Balcom on winning this year’s championship with a win over Lindsay LeFresne and Luke Guthro of Wanderers. Happy Canada Day from everyone at the Dartmouth Lawn Bowls Club!
Today at the club, we hosted over 70 members and guests for our annual Canada Day Jitney and Barbeque. The weather was excellent and the competition and fun was top notch. Congratulations to John Driscoll, Rick Burrows, Louise Comeau and Carmen Kerr (one of our new bowlers this year) on taking out this year’s title.
Dartmouth was also proud to take part in the AERO BOWLS Canada Bowl for Breast Cancer Tour- hosting the bowl for a spider where we raised $126 for the cause and gave away some prizes to the closest to the bowl. Thanks for supporting everyone! We look forward to sending it along to the next club as it makes its way across Canada this season. A huge thanks to Mike Camilleri (the son of one of our members) for capturing the view of the spider from above (along with the action during the bowling) by drone camera!
Special thanks to Joyce Anderson and her group of volunteers for running the meal, Gordon Foster and Ken Cameron for barbequing, Ann Marie and John Siteman for setting up the jitney and everyone who helped contribute to the meal.
