What an awesome day of bowls action at the club. The weather might have been cold but the level of play at the Early Bird was red hot! Congrats to Steve Ogden, Vicki Balcom and Lorraine Bezanson on taking out this year’s title!

Thanks to Lynnette Alford of the South Dartmouth Post for visiting us at our Victoria Day Opening Day Jitney at the club to talk about lawn bowls and all the special things about our community here at DLBC. Make sure to give it a read! If it inspires you or your friends to give it a try- send us a message or join us at one of our upcoming Try It sessions!

What a fantastic day at the Dartmouth Lawn Bowls Club as we officially kicked off the 2026 season with our Opening Day Jitney!
A total of 53 bowlers hit the greens for a fun-filled day of Triples and Fours play, with plenty of great shots, laughs and competitive action throughout the afternoon!
Congratulations to our 2026 Opening Day champions: Heather Salmon, Hector Comeau and Shawn MacPhee!
A huge thank you goes out to everyone who helped make the day such a success- Janice Marshall for organizing the meal, our barbeque extraordinaires Gary Marshall and Gordon Foster, all of the members who contributed food, and Ann Marie and John Siteman for running the jitney. Most importantly, thank you to all of our members for making it such a fun and memorable start to the season!
We’re already looking ahead to our next big event- the 2026 Early Bird Mixed Triples Tournament coming up on Saturday May 30th at the club. Should be another great event as we start up our 2026 season!

Thanks to Judy Umansky of Zoomers Physiotherapy & Spring Physiotherapy Clinics for presenting a learning session titled “Steady, Safe and Strong- Reducing Your Risk of Falls”. With falls being a common issue when it comes to causing injuries both on and off the green- this is valuable info to keeping healthy and active for many years to come!

It is with great sadness that we pass on the news that long-time member Dorothy Faught passed away on Monday April 27th. Dorothy was a very active member of our club as well as dual memberships at St. Mary's and Wanderers. Dorothy and her husband Emery competed in and organized many tournaments representing the club.
Here is the link to Dorothy's obituary. There is no funeral service noted in the obituary, only a private graveside interment at a later date.

Our deepest condolences go to Emery and family and to all those who knew and loved her.
