Le week-end passé, le Club Glenmore a été l’hôte du premier Tournoi C**t de la saison 2023/2024. Plus de 20 équipes ont participées. Ce fut un weekend très excitant socialement et compétitivement! Nous avons eu du très bon calibre de curling et toutes les équipes ont appréciées la qualité de nos glaces ainsi que l’accueil et service de nos bénévoles :)

HISTORY MADE AT MIXED!

Curling Canada | History made at mixed! Team Québec wrote a fresh chapter in the annals of history on Saturday winning its third consecutive Canadian Mixed crown at the 2022 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship, hosted by the Prince Albert Golf and Curling Centre in Saskatchewan.

Cornwall Curling Centre is hosting a Mixed Invitational bonspiel this coming week-end and is looking for teams!

Hey everyone, here is a poem written by our very own, Andrew Lachance. Enjoy 😉

THE GIRL NAMED PEARL WHO LOVED TO CURL
An homage to Theodor Geisel (AKA Dr. Seuss)

There once was a girl, her name was Pearl
And she really, really loved to curl
Our story begins when a friend once suggested
She visit Glenmore (I’ve many hours invested)
People so friendly, conversant and wise
The game is fun too, it’ll open your eyes
So she gathered her gumption, her will and her pride
Went to see for herself what the heck is inside
She was greeted quite cordially by all that she met
Even offered a drink by a lass named Yvette
¨I’m new to this game, a true neophyte
Are there some here who can give guidance tonight? ¨
Of course! She was told, many knowledgeable men
There’s Randy and Scott and of course there’s Sir Ben
We’ve female mentors too, we’re not at a loss
There’s Alanna and Jill and Dame Allison Ross
Explanations began, once a beverage acquired
Rules and terms, they were listed, this then transpired;
At first she was lost, was completely confused
¨Your terms they befuddle, they’re completely misused
A hammer’s a tool, a hack a bad writer
I dare not confess what I consider a ¨biter¨
There’s a brush in my washroom, I button my blouse
A counter in the kitchen, my home is my house
I curl my hair, a spare is a tire
My weight’s not your business, do not inquire
A skip’s a small leap, a sheet on my bed
A hit’s a good record, you’re messing my head
In front of a palace stands a guard, don’t you know
A lead is to guide or to start or to… ohhhhhhh!
I’m starting to get it, I mustn’t get vexed
A second’s not time it’s the one who plays next
A raise is just that, not a ploy used in poker
A takeout is too, not what you eat, you big joker¨
Now she is hooked and she can’t get enough
She plays Tuesdays through Sundays (sometimes it’s tough)
She yens to compete, our little Miss Pearl
In Bonspiels and Opens, to give it a whirl
She sits at the bar with girls Laura and Kelsey
Big drinks always served by Sir Dee and Miss Suzie
She loves it at Glenmore, so many new friends
She watches all games, she watches all ends
As the season winds down she ponders, sorta blue
I’ll miss all my friends and they’ll miss me too
Not to worry, she’s told, we have phones, we have cars
We’re not bunches of Marvins, we don’t live on Mars!
Now the Fling of the Spring has been flung and been sprung
Final toasts have been made, final songs have been sung
Now Pearl says ¨I’m complete, happy too but my toes are quite freezin’
Have a wonderful summer y’all, I’ll see you next season.
