Just a little reminder as we head into another school year and welcome new young people into the workforce.
Here at the PI, we hire teenagers, and for some of them, this may be their very first job. Many start out as bussers or dishwashers, jobs that are incredibly important members of our team. They help keep the restaurant clean, organized and flowing so our servers, cooks and the rest of the team can do their jobs.
Theyโre learning how to work with others, manage responsibilities, solve problems, build confidence and become great employees. They will make mistakes. They may need to ask a question. They might take an extra minute to figure something out. Thatโs part of learning.
Please be patient. Please be kind. Please speak to them with the same respect you would want someone to show your own child.
We will always encourage our young employees to work hard and provide great service, but we will also always stand behind them when they are treated disrespectfully.
Everyone has to start somewhere, and weโre proud that for many young people in our community, their first job starts right here at the PI. They may be bussing tables or washing dishes today, but theyโre learning skills theyโll carry with them for years to come. And while theyโre learning, theyโre an important part of what keeps the PI running every day.
