This is not the season update we hoped to share.
We built our early-season plans around opportunities to compete, grow, and represent Nigeria on the international Mixed Doubles stage. One early event was not included on the schedule we recently shared because we were already on its waitlist. A second event, which does appear on that schedule, is now also uncertain.
With those plans in flux, we are taking a breath, staying prepared, and continuing to do the work behind the scenes.
Team Hoodi is bigger than one event or one weekend. We are still training, fundraising for the season, and building toward the long-term goal of putting Nigeria on the road to the Olympic stage.
Thank you to everyone who has followed, encouraged, shared, and supported us so far. We will keep you posted as the season develops. 🇳🇬🥌

We throw the first stones of the season October 2 in Lafayette, Colorado. Then we spend a lot of time in Ontario & Finland 🤞🏾.
One asterisk on the list: we know which one we have to earn.
Still building 🇳🇬🥌

In or out? 👀
During our power play, thejasminhashi ticked this stone all the way hrough the house and it stopped 1mm short of going out.
One millimeter the other way and it would be a goner!
Still in. Still working. 🥌🇳🇬

To close out Women’s History Month — a thank you to Nancy Martin, who made time for us while she was in Charlotte coaching at the US Men’s and Women’s National Championships.
Coach. Mentor. Official unofficial member of Team Hoodi. 🥌
We’re grateful. 🇳🇬🥌

This International Women’s Month, we had the honor of sharing the ice with someone who has redefined what’s possible for Nigerian athletes.
simisleighs — skeleton Olympian, Nigeria’s first-ever Winter Olympian, and the first African and Black woman to compete in skeleton at the Olympics. She trains out of Charlotte, and we’re trying at add curling to her roster. 🥌
Two Nigerian winter sports teams. One rink. 🇳🇬❄️

Life after a season that ended earlier than we wanted: back on the ice, back to work, getting some rest, and already planning what’s next.
The off-season is quieter. But we’re still here, still building.
More to come. 🇳🇬🥌
