Welcome to the Fort McMurray Mountaineers spring hockey program for 2013 year born hockey players. Evaluations and tryouts are held each year in January.

Our team plays in 2-3 tournaments during spring season ending in early June.

Although the team didn’t play for any hardware after competing in the 2013 Gold division of the Crusher Cup this weekend, they faced some good competition, battled hard, and had fun! Congrats to all of the team on a great spring season, and a big congrats to our game MVP’s from this weekend:

Game 1: #78 Lucas Smith
Game 2: #10 EJ Hawco
Game 3: #19 Maverick Wigle
Game 4: #13 Malachi Natividad

In a back and forth game 1 of the Crusher Cup against the Huskies Prospects, the Mountaineers came up on the short end for a final score of 6-4. Player of the game goes to #78 Lucas Smith who played a sound game defensively. Way to go Lucas!

🥇🏆CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!🥇🏆

Big 7-4 win in the GOLD MEDAL FINALS against Sask West Wheat Kings, and are coming home as CHAMPIONS!!!

After a fun-filled 5 days in Edmonton for the All Star Invitational, consisting of Go-Kart races, arcade time, Easter egg hunt, and plenty of pool time, the Mountaineers capped it off today by pulling off a big 7-4 win in the gold medal final against SaskWest Wheat Kings, and are coming home as champions!!! 🥇🏆

Player of the game goes to #78 Lucas Smith, who had a solid game on defense, as always! Way to go Mountaineers!!!

Next stop, Crusher Cup on April 28-30!

A close match between the Mountaineers and the Sask Wolfpack this morning in today’s semi-final ended up going our way, with a final score of 7-4! The Mountaineers will go on to play in the gold medal final tomorrow morning against the SaskWest Wheat Kings at 12:00pm, tune in for the live action!

Player of the game this morning went to #88 Chael Matchem who had a big power play goal with a shot from the blue line. Way to go Mountaineers!!
