EDMONTON, WE NEED YOUR HELP.
We're at a critical point in the Edmonton Bike Park build, and we need to be straightforward with everyone: we desperately need more volunteers.
The last several weeks have been tough. Low volunteer turnout, combined with repeated weather delays, has put us significantly behind where we need to be.
Our September 5 Grand Opening is now at serious risk.
We're looking at options, including potentially moving the opening to October 3, but that has not been confirmed. If we can't get enough people out to help complete the remaining work, there's also a real possibility that some of this gets pushed into next year.
That's not where we want this project to end up.
This park was always meant to be community-built.
Edmonton's mountain bike community asked for this park. Years of advocacy helped make it possible. Funding, professional contractors, the City and countless volunteer hours have brought us this far.
Now we need the community to help us finish it.
For the next three weeks, we're running trail-building shifts:
TUESDAY–FRIDAY
10:00 AM–2:00 PM
You don't need to be an experienced trail builder. We'll provide direction and show you what needs to be done.
If you've been thinking about volunteering "one of these days," this is the time.
Come for one shift. Come for several. Bring a riding buddy. Bring your riding group. Bring some friends.
Four hours from enough people could make an enormous difference.
We asked Edmonton to believe in this project. Now we're asking Edmonton to help us get it across the finish line.

Edmonton's trail system has taken a significant hit this season. We know, it sucks for us too as we are all riders also.
Between severe weather, heavy rainfall, erosion, and an unprecedented number of downed trees, many of our trails have been impacted. We know it's frustrating to come across blocked routes, damaged tread, or areas that need attention, and we want our community to know that these issues are already on our radar.
EMBA is actively working with the City of Edmonton to identify, prioritize, and address trail damage across the network. With the volume of damage this year, repairs and assessments are being triaged based on safety, accessibility, and available resources.
If you encounter a downed tree, please continue to report it through 311. This helps ensure it is directed through the City's official reporting process. If you're told to contact EMBA instead, please let them know that EMBA is not responsible for the removal of downed trees. While we work closely with the City and advocate for trail maintenance, tree removal falls under City operations.
We also encourage you to continue flagging trail concerns with us. Photos, locations, and descriptions are incredibly helpful and allow us to build a clearer picture of where attention is needed. Please understand, however, that we are a volunteer-driven organization with limited capacity. Our team is doing everything it can to assess issues, coordinate with our partners, and prioritize the most urgent needs first.
We appreciate everyone's patience, understanding, and continued support as we work through what has been one of the most challenging seasons for Edmonton's trails in recent memory.
Thank you for helping us keep our trail network safe and enjoyable for everyone.

🌧️ Wet Trail Reminder 🌲
With all the recent rain, Edmonton’s river valley trails are extremely soft and saturated right now. Even once the sun comes back out, many trails — especially clay-based and shaded sections — will take several days to properly dry out.
Riding or walking on wet trails can cause lasting damage. Deep ruts and footprints harden as trails dry, and going around puddles creates trail braiding that widens trails and damages surrounding vegetation.
Please help protect the trails by:
🚫 Staying off trails for a few days after the rain
🚲 Riding straight through puddles if you unexpectedly encounter them
🌱 Avoiding going around muddy sections
👣 Using your best judgment if trails still feel soft or leave deep tracks
We also ask everyone to give the new Edmonton Bike Park trails extra time to dry out. These fresh trails are still “setting in” and are especially sensitive to damage while they continue to compact and stabilize.
If you notice standing water on a trail, sometimes even a small scrape on the lower side of the puddle with your shoe can help water drain and speed up drying. We’re not asking people to head out with tools — just to help trails recover naturally where appropriate.
The good news: the trails will be great again soon — they just need a little patience from all of us. 🙌
Thanks for helping protect Edmonton’s trail network and respecting the work our volunteers put into maintaining it.

The 2026 build season is officially on the horizon! 🛠️🚵♂️
Now that the snow is gone and the ground is drying up, it’s time to start thinking about our beautiful creation again. 2025 was massive, but we’re just getting started. This year is going to be all about finishing those lines, finding that perfect flow, and making more memories with the best community in the city.
Official Sign ups will be out soon—stay tuned for those dates later this week—but consider this your heads-up to get your shovels and bikes ready.
It’s going to be an epic year of building and shredding. Who’s ready to get back out there? Let’s go! 🤙🔥
